Broken Blade Explosion Weapon Guide – How to Get

The latest Broken Blade event introduces a brand-new limited weapon called Explosion, and it’s easily one of the most unique weapons added to the game so far. Unlike traditional progression weapons that focus on consistent damage output, Explosion is built around a single devastating attack that can hit incredibly hard when fully optimized.

The catch? Getting it requires a fair amount of grinding.

If you’re wondering how to unlock Explosion, what materials you need, and whether it’s actually worth investing your time into, here’s everything you need to know.

How to Get Explosion

The entire weapon route revolves around farming materials for the Headless Knight boss.

Before you can challenge this event boss, you’ll need to collect Helmet materials, which are used to summon it on Explosion Island.

Farming Helmet Materials

There are two ways to obtain Helmet materials.

The first method is defeating bosses throughout the game. Most bosses have a chance to drop Helmet materials, with stronger bosses generally offering better drop rates.

Players who have already progressed through later areas should focus on farming bosses around higher-level islands since the rewards tend to be more efficient.

The second method involves collecting Cats that randomly appear around different islands. These Cats can reward various materials, including Helmet materials and Eye Patches.

Best Farming Route

The fastest method is combining both strategies.

Instead of waiting around after defeating a boss, use the downtime to search the surrounding island for Cats.

A simple farming loop looks like this:

  • Defeat a boss
  • Search the island for Cats
  • Collect any materials that drop
  • Return when the boss respawns
  • Repeat the cycle

This keeps you constantly earning materials instead of wasting time standing idle.

Summoning Headless Knight

Once you’ve built up a healthy supply of Helmet materials, head to Explosion Island.

Here you’ll use those materials to summon the Headless Knight boss.

This is the enemy you’ll need to farm repeatedly because it drops Eye Patches, the most important crafting material required for Explosion.

Eye Patch Requirement

To craft Explosion, you’ll need:

  • 65 Eye Patches

Since Eye Patches only come from Headless Knight drops, expect this to be the longest part of the grind.

The more Helmet materials you stockpile beforehand, the easier this stage becomes.

Crafting Materials

After collecting all 65 Eye Patches, you’ll still need several additional resources.

Required Materials

  • 65 Eye Patches
  • 3,000 Buster Piece I
  • 1,500 Buster Piece II
  • 800 Buster Piece III
  • 10,000 Fire Seeds

Many veteran players may already have a portion of these materials saved from previous farming sessions, but newer players should be prepared for a lengthy grind.

Once everything is gathered, you can finally craft Explosion.

Best Ore for Explosion

Explosion only has one ore slot, making your ore choice especially important.

The recommended option is Chunabior Ore.

This ore boosts:

  • Explosion weapon damage
  • Critical damage
  • Explosion damage

Since the weapon’s entire identity revolves around maximizing the damage of its final skill, this ore provides the most value.

Upgrading Explosion

After crafting the weapon, don’t stop there.

Upgrading Explosion with additional Chunabior Ore significantly improves its damage potential.

At maximum upgrades, the weapon gains:

  • 8,020 Explosion Damage
  • +46 Critical Damage

Considering the weapon is built around one massive burst attack, every bit of extra damage matters.

Forging the Weapon

Explosion belongs to the Buster weapon category.

Because of this, forging it with Buster Pieces provides additional benefits and should be considered a key part of the weapon’s progression.

Many players craft the weapon and immediately move on, but upgrading and forging it properly is what unlocks its true damage potential.

Explosion Event Rewards

The event offers more than just the weapon.

Explosion Title

The Explosion Title provides:

  • +100 Explosion Damage
  • +100 Health

Meguman Accessory

The Meguman Accessory grants:

  • +125 Health
  • +100 Explosion Damage

If you’re committing to an Explosion build, both rewards are worth obtaining because they directly increase the weapon’s primary damage source.

Explosion Skills Explained

The weapon comes with five abilities.

Dance Skills

The first four abilities are dance skills.

These attacks deal no damage.

Instead, their purpose is to help reduce the cooldown of the weapon’s main ability.

Don’t expect them to help with boss farming or general combat.

Explosion

The fifth skill is where all of the weapon’s power comes from.

Activating Explosion triggers a massive blast capable of dealing extremely high damage, especially when paired with proper upgrades, ore bonuses, the event title, and the accessory.

This is the attack that makes the weapon special.

The Biggest Drawback

Despite its incredible burst damage, Explosion has one major weakness.

The cooldown.

After using the main skill, you’ll be waiting roughly ten minutes before it becomes available again.

The dance abilities can reduce this timer slightly, but not enough to fundamentally change how the weapon functions.

Because of this, Explosion struggles as a primary progression weapon.
