How to Fire the Turret & Use Overcharge in Sol’s RNG

If you’ve walked over to the new turret in Sol’s RNG and wondered why you can’t just fire the thing immediately, there’s a little more going on with it than the game initially makes obvious.

The turret is tied to the event progression system. You need to complete Lime’s quest, build up charge, fire at the Sun, earn Summer Points, and then use those points to improve the turret. There’s also an Overcharge mechanic, and this is the part you really want to understand before spending your daily charges.

You can fire whenever you reach 100% charge, but saving up to 200% gives you another option that can make those charges more valuable.

Here’s how the whole system works.

How to Unlock the Turret in Sol’s RNG

Before worrying about upgrades or Overcharge, your first stop should be Lime.

You’ll find Lime standing right next to the turret, so you don’t need to go searching across the map for an NPC.

Talk to Lime and complete the quest you’re given. This needs to be done before you can properly start working with the turret and its upgrades.

So, if you’re standing there wondering why the upgrade system isn’t working yet, check Lime first. There’s a good chance you simply haven’t finished the required quest.

How the Turret Charge System Works

Once you’ve got access to the turret, you’ll notice a charge percentage displayed directly on its screen.

The turret automatically receives charge points every four seconds.

There is one catch, though.

You don’t necessarily receive the exact same amount of energy every time. The amount of charge gained is affected by both:

  • The current biome
  • The time of day

Because of that, how quickly you build charge can vary depending on what’s happening in your server.

You don’t have to manually keep track of everything. Just look at the turret’s screen whenever you want to see how close you are to your next shot.

How to Fire the Turret in Sol’s RNG

A normal turret shot requires 100% charge.

Once the meter reaches 100%, you can consume that full charge and fire a projectile at the Sun.

The basic process is pretty simple:

Build 100% Charge → Fire Turret → Damage the Sun → Receive Event Rewards

But I wouldn’t immediately fire the moment that first 100% becomes available.

There’s a reason for that.

Why You Should Save 200% Turret Charge

You can collect two complete charges per day.

That effectively gives you a maximum of 200% charge, with each full 100% representing one shot.

You could simply fire at 100%, build your second charge and then fire again. That works.

However, there’s another way to use those two charges: Overcharge.

If you’re not in a rush to fire, saving both daily charges until you reach the full 200% is the more interesting option because it lets you activate this special attack.

How to Use Overcharge in Sol’s RNG

Overcharge requires the full 200% charge.

Instead of consuming only one 100% bar, Overcharge uses both complete charge bars at the same time.

When activated, the turret fires two projectiles during a single attack.

In simple terms:

Normal Shot = 100% Charge → One Projectile

Overcharge = 200% Charge → Two Projectiles in One Attack

That’s why I’d avoid spending the first charge immediately unless you specifically need to fire right away.

Build the meter all the way to 200%, then use Overcharge and get both projectiles out during the same attack.

What Does Firing the Turret Do?

You’re not just firing the turret because it looks cool.

Every shot damages the Sun, and the amount of damage you deal is connected to the rewards you receive from the event.

Your damage can affect how many Summer Points and event Overlock rewards you earn.

That creates a pretty straightforward progression loop:

Charge Turret → Damage Sun → Earn Summer Points → Upgrade Turret → Improve Future Attacks

So those daily shots actually matter if you’re trying to progress through the event efficiently.

How to Get Summer Points

Summer Points, or SP, are earned through the turret event by dealing damage to the Sun.

The more effectively you’re participating in the event and dealing damage, the more useful those rewards become because SP is what you’ll eventually put back into the turret.

Think of Summer Points as your turret upgrade currency rather than something you want to ignore after firing.

How to Upgrade the Turret in Sol’s RNG

The turret has four upgrade levels.

You can improve it by spending the Summer Points you’ve earned during the event.

Just remember the earlier requirement: complete Lime’s quest first. Don’t start farming currency expecting to immediately access everything if you haven’t taken care of that prerequisite.

From there, your event progression becomes a cycle. Build charge, fire at the Sun, collect your rewards, spend SP on upgrades, and continue improving the turret.

Normal Shot or Overcharge – Which Should You Use?

For general event farming, I’d save for Overcharge.

A normal shot is perfectly usable and only requires 100%, so there’s nothing wrong with firing one if you have a reason to do it immediately.

But since you can accumulate two full charges, holding onto the first one until you’ve reached 200% lets you activate Overcharge and fire both projectiles together.

That makes the system easier to manage as well. Instead of constantly checking whether you’ve reached another 100%, you can wait until both daily charge bars are ready and then use your Overcharge attack.

Best Way to Use the Sol’s RNG Turret Each Day

If you’re trying to get as much value as possible from the event, I wouldn’t overcomplicate it.

Complete Lime’s quest first and make sure your turret features are available. Then allow your charge to accumulate while you play.

Rather than immediately spending your first 100%, keep going until you’ve stored the full 200% daily charge.

Once both bars are ready, activate Overcharge to fire two projectiles in a single attack. Your attack damages the Sun, which contributes toward your Summer Point and event rewards.

You can then put those Summer Points back into the turret’s four upgrade levels.

The biggest mistake is probably going to be players seeing that shiny 100% on the turret screen and immediately pressing fire without realizing they could have waited for Overcharge.

So if you remember only one thing from this guide, make it this:

Don’t rush your first shot. Save 200% charge when possible, use Overcharge, and then spend the Summer Points you earn on upgrading the turret.
