The latest Animal Hospital update has added a brand-new second floor to the hospital, along with a lab, new tools, lore, achievements, skins, and more. There are quite a few things packed into this update, so I went through the new areas to see what has actually been added.
The biggest addition is obviously the second floor, which gives us a completely new area to explore. You can access it after the first ambulance visit, or you can unlock it from the beginning if you use the skip tutorial mode.
In this guide, I’ll take you through the new second floor and explain what I found there, including the lab, DNA sampler, new board, hidden location, lore elements, and the other changes included in the update.
Animal Hospital Second Floor Update – Secret Areas, Lab
The second floor becomes available after your first ambulance visit.
If you’re starting a new game and want to access it earlier, you can also use the Skip Tutorial mode. I initially went into the normal mode, so I had to make sure I completed the required step before checking out the new area.
Once you’ve unlocked it, simply head inside the hospital and look for the stairs leading up to the second floor.
What’s on the Second Floor?
Once you head upstairs, you’ll find several new areas to explore.
The biggest addition is the Lab, but there is also another room with different things to investigate, including a board with information displayed on it.
The second floor also ties into some of the new lore added with this update, so it’s worth looking around rather than just going straight into the lab.
New Lab
The new Lab is one of the most interesting additions in this update.
Inside the lab, you can make vials that can be used on yourself or on NPCs. Essentially, this gives you a new way to create potion-like items and use their effects during gameplay.
I had a look around the lab and found the equipment you need for making these vials. It’s a pretty cool addition because it gives the second floor an actual purpose instead of being just another area to explore.
New DNA Sampler Tool
The update also adds a brand-new DNA Sampler tool.
You can use this tool to take samples from patients. After collecting a sample, you can return it to the appropriate area in the lab.
This works alongside the new laboratory system and gives you another task to complete when dealing with patients.
New Effects Board
There’s also a new board displaying all stackable effects.
This gives you a place to check the different effects that can stack together. It’s a useful addition if you’re experimenting with the new lab and vial mechanics and want to understand the effects available to you.
New Hidden Location
The update also includes a new hidden location.
I wasn’t able to find the exact location of this secret area while going through the update, so I don’t want to give you a random location and pretend it’s correct.

New Lore Elements
The second-floor update also adds new lore elements to Animal Hospital.
Some of these can be found by exploring the new rooms and looking at the different boards and objects around the area. If you’re interested in the game’s story, I’d recommend taking some time to investigate the second floor instead of rushing through it.
New Achievements and Skins
Along with the new areas and gameplay features, the update also adds new achievements.
There are also four new skins to collect, giving you some additional cosmetic rewards to work toward while playing.
These are separate from the new lab mechanics, so there’s plenty to work on even after you’ve finished exploring the second floor.

The update isn’t only about the second floor. There are also several smaller changes and improvements included.
The developers have added:

The new lab and DNA Sampler are probably the biggest gameplay additions, while the new lore, hidden location, achievements, and skins give you more reasons to explore the update.
