When you first start playing Roblox Paradox, the controls might feel simple, but the difference between a beginner and a good player comes down to how well you actually use them. It’s not just about knowing the keys—it’s about understanding when and why to use each one during fights.
Paradox Controls Guide – Full Beginner to Advanced Explanation
Your main attack is your left click (M1), and this is the foundation of combat. Almost everything revolves around this. You’ll use it for basic damage, starting combos, and applying pressure. If you can’t control your M1 timing properly, fights will feel messy.
Your R key is your critical attack. This hits harder than normal attacks and is best used when you want to finish an enemy or break their momentum. It’s not something you spam—you use it at the right moment.
Defense is handled with F, which is both block and parry. If you hold it, you reduce incoming damage. But if you time it correctly, you can parry attacks and punish your opponent. This is one of the most important mechanics in the game, especially in PvP.
Movement Controls
Movement is where most players either improve or stay average.
Pressing Q lets you dash, and this is extremely important. You use it to dodge attacks, close distance, or escape when things go bad. Good players are constantly dashing, not just standing still and trading hits.
Holding Shift lets you run faster, which is useful for traveling and repositioning. It’s basic, but you’ll use it a lot outside combat.
Left Alt activates shift lock, and this helps control your camera better during fights. Once you get used to it, combat feels much smoother and more controlled.
Interaction Controls
When an enemy is downed, you can press B to grip them, which finishes them. This is important in both PvE and PvP situations.
Pressing G allows you to carry players. This doesn’t seem important at first, but it can be useful depending on the situation, especially in team play or certain objectives.
Abilities and Utility Controls
The V key activates your special ability or transformation, depending on your build. This is something you should save for the right moment, not waste randomly.
Pressing N opens your main menu, where you manage your stats, inventory, and build. You’ll be using this often outside combat.
There’s also a meditation function (also tied to a key like N depending on setup), which is used in specific mechanics like progression or transformations.
Navigation and Awareness
Pressing the comma ( , ) key shows NPCs around you. This is extremely useful when you’re trying to find quests, trainers, or important locations without guessing.
Advanced Control
The most important advanced mechanic is right click.
Right click allows you to feint (fake) your actions. You can fake:
- Dashes
- M1 attacks
- Movement
This is huge in PvP because it lets you trick opponents into reacting early. For example, you can fake a dash to bait a block, then punish them immediately.
Once you start using feints properly, your gameplay becomes much harder to predict.
How It All Comes Together
At the start, you’ll mostly:
- Use M1 for damage
- Dash around with Q
- Block with F
But as you improve, you’ll start combining everything:
- Dash in → M1 combo → feint → parry → punish
That’s when combat starts to feel smooth and skill-based instead of random.
If you just memorize the controls, you’ll be average. But if you actually practice timing, movement, and feints, you’ll improve very quickly.
Most fights in Paradox are not won by damage—they’re won by:
- Better movement
- Better timing
- Smarter control usage
