Anime Expeditions Modifiers Guide – Best Modifiers Ranking

Modifiers are special stage mechanics in Anime Expeditions that change how battles work. Instead of simply increasing enemy stats, modifiers can disable important gameplay features, strengthen enemies, or introduce completely new mechanics that require different strategies.

Before entering a stage, it’s always worth checking its active modifiers so you can build the right team.

Anime Expeditions Modifiers Guide – Best Modifiers Ranking

Modifiers are special effects that change the normal rules of a stage.

They can affect:

  • Enemy stats
  • Enemy abilities
  • Unit placement
  • Farming
  • Traits
  • Research Tree upgrades
  • Elements
  • Stage mechanics

Some modifiers impact the entire stage, while others only apply to specific enemies.

Types of Modifiers

There are two categories of modifiers in Anime Expeditions:

  • Game Modifiers
  • Enemy Modifiers

Game Modifiers

Game Modifiers affect the entire stage. Every player and every enemy in the match is influenced by these effects.

Examples include disabling Farm units, reducing all unit ranges, or making every enemy a boss.

Enemy Modifiers

Enemy Modifiers only affect enemies that spawn with that modifier.

These enemies display their modifier above their head, making them easy to identify during battle.

Game Modifiers

Boss Waves

Every enemy in the stage is treated as a boss.

This usually means tougher enemies with significantly higher durability.

Cards Disabled

Blood Money and Bounty Hunter cards cannot be used during the stage.

Mirror

Enemies gain resistance to every Element currently used by your deployed units.

Using multiple Elements can make enemies resistant to several damage types.

No Anvils

Stat Anvils cannot be used.

No Farms

Farm units are completely disabled.

Since you cannot generate extra Yen, you’ll need to manage your economy carefully.

No Repair

The Repair Hammer cannot be used during the stage.

No Research Tree

Research Tree bonuses are disabled for the entire match.

No Tomes

Trait Tomes cannot be used.

Resistance

Enemy elemental resistances rotate every 30 seconds in the following order:

  • Flame
  • Hydro
  • Gale
  • Terra
  • Light
  • Storm
  • Dark

You’ll need a balanced team that can handle changing resistances.

Shielded

Every enemy spawns with 10 Shields, allowing them to absorb multiple attacks before taking direct damage.

Short Range

All allied units lose 25% of their attack range.

Positioning becomes much more important on these stages.

Speedy

All enemies move 50% faster than normal.

Crowd-control units become especially valuable.

Traitless

Every unit loses the effects of its equipped Trait.

Upgrade Cap

Only 25 total upgrades can be purchased across all deployed units.

Spend your upgrades carefully.

High-health enemies that take longer to defeat.

Summoner

Every 5 seconds, summons additional enemies nearby.

Maximum of 5 summoned enemies.

Avoid placing all units together.

Splitter

Splits into three smaller enemies after dying.

Each new enemy has 33% of the original enemy’s health.

Single-target and cone attackers become more effective.

One of the toughest defensive modifiers.

Regen III

High burst damage is recommended against these enemies.

The shield must be removed before health can be damaged.

Immunity

Immune to all Soft Crowd-Control and Hard Crowd-Control effects.

Slow, Freeze, Rewind, and Stun will not work.

  • +20% movement speed
  • +20% health

Defeating the Commander first removes these buffs.

Research Project

Defeating these enemies contributes progress toward your current Expedition Project.

Soldier

Receives 20% movement speed while near a Commander.

Veil

Creates a large AoE shield around nearby enemies.

The shield absorbs damage equal to 200% of the host’s health.

Tartaros

Every 10 seconds:

  • Consumes a nearby Basic enemy
  • Gains Regen I for 10 seconds

  • 99% reduced HP
  • 5 Shields

Stunner

Every 15 seconds:

  • Stuns the 3 nearest allied units
  • Stun duration: 5 seconds

Spread out important damage dealers when possible.

Zone Debuff

Creates an area that applies negative effects to nearby units.

Avoid placing units inside the affected zone whenever possible.

Transformer

At 50% HP, transforms into a stronger second phase with full health.

Prepare for a much longer battle than expected.

Bulwark

Every 10 seconds:

  • Becomes completely immune to damage
  • Lasts 3 seconds

Time your burst damage between immunity windows.

Status Cleanse

Every 10 seconds, removes all Crowd-Control effects from every enemy currently on the map.

Continuous Freeze or Stun strategies become much less effective.

Retaliation Counter

After receiving 20 hits, all allied units are stunned for 2 seconds.

Fast multi-hit units may trigger this effect more often.

Greed (Modifier)

Every 10 seconds:

  • Steals 10% HP from nearby enemies within 5 range

This helps nearby enemies survive longer.

Cage

Randomly selects one allied unit and cages it.

While caged, the unit cannot:

  • Attack
  • Use passives
  • Activate abilities

Fear

Every 15 seconds, nearby allied units within 30 range receive:

  • -10% Damage
  • -10% SPA effectiveness
  • -10% Range

The debuff lasts 10 seconds.

Warlock

Every 5 seconds, nearby enemies gain:

  • +1 Shield
  • +10% movement speed

This support modifier can quickly strengthen entire enemy groups if the Warlock isn’t defeated promptly.

Modifiers are one of the biggest factors that increase the difficulty and variety of Anime Expeditions. While powerful units are important, understanding how each Game Modifier and Enemy Modifier changes the battlefield is just as crucial. Adapting your team, positioning, and strategy to the active modifiers will greatly improve your chances of clearing challenging stages, expeditions, and future endgame content.
