Paradox Shinigami Guide – Full Progression to Bankai

If you’re starting as a Shinigami in Roblox Paradox, your progression is actually one of the smoothest in the game, but only if you understand how potential and key milestones work. If you don’t, you’ll feel stuck even while grinding. I’ll walk you through it step by step the way you’d actually experience it while playing.

Starting in Soul Society

When you spawn as a Shinigami, you start in Soul Society, and your first goal is very simple: begin doing missions.

You’ll notice a mission board nearby, and pretty much every new player heads there. You just start picking missions and completing them over and over. At this stage, you’re not thinking about builds or abilities yet—you’re just building up potential, which is the core progression system of the game.

Everything in Paradox revolves around potential. It’s what unlocks Shikai, Bankai, and basically your entire progression path.

Reaching 75 Potential (Soul Reaper Exam)

As you keep doing missions, you’ll eventually reach 75 potential, which is your first major checkpoint.

At this point, you need to go to the Soul Reaper Exam, which is located in Soul Society (top-right area, inside a yellow building). You can use your NPC finder (comma key) to locate the professor if you’re unsure.

Once you reach the location and talk to the NPC, you’ll take the exam. This is required to officially progress as a Shinigami, so don’t skip it.

Grinding to 200 Potential (Unlocking Shikai)

After passing the exam, you go back to grinding missions again. This part is straightforward—you’re just stacking more potential.

When you reach around 200 potential, you unlock the ability to meditate, which lets you obtain your Shikai.

Once unlocked:

  • You gain your Shikai weapon
  • You unlock abilities (usually around 3 skills)
  • You can activate it using your ability key

This is your first real power spike, and combat starts to feel much better from here.

Optional Path

After getting your Shikai, you can start working toward becoming a Visored, which is an optional but powerful upgrade.

To begin:

  • Reach 500 potential
  • Talk to the Visored NPC (Yamamoto-type character)

You’ll need an item called a Mask Remnant, which drops from gameplay. Once you have it, you can start the questline.

The requirements include:

  • Killing around 50 Shinigami players
  • Getting around 20 ranked wins

After completing these, you return to the NPC and unlock your Visored powers. This gives you a strong boost, especially in combat.

Preparing for Bankai (Endgame Requirement)

Now comes the main goal: Bankai.

To even start this process, you need to reach around 705 potential, which is a big jump from earlier stages. This means a lot of grinding:

  • Missions
  • Boss fights
  • Events

During this process, you’ll also repeatedly interact with Kisuke, who is one of the most important NPCs in the game.

Kisuke Fight (Limit Break + Bankai Progress)

Kisuke is located in Karakura Town (KT), and you can reach him by using your gate.

He serves two main purposes:

  • Tracks your potential
  • Lets you break your potential cap
  • Acts as a boss fight you must defeat

For Bankai progression, one of your requirements is:

  • Fighting and defeating Kisuke

He’s not an easy fight, especially if your mechanics aren’t strong, so expect to lose a few times before you get it right.

Bankai Requirements

Once you reach 705 potential, your Bankai progression begins, and it includes several steps.

First, you need to:

  • Get gripped (defeated) around 10 times by players from different factions

After that, you:

  • Fight and defeat Kisuke

Once you complete these steps, you move into the spiritual phase of the progression.

Bankai Spirit & Trials

After defeating Kisuke, you need to meditate to communicate with your Bankai spirit.

This leads you into a set of trials back in Soul Society. These trials vary, but they are required to prove your strength and complete the awakening process.

Once you complete these trials, you finally unlock your Bankai.

What Changes After Bankai

When you unlock Bankai:

  • You gain a massive power increase
  • Your abilities improve significantly
  • Your combat becomes much more impactful

This is the peak of Shinigami progression and where your build really comes together.
