Update 12.5 for Anime Vanguards introduced some extremely strong units, but Monarch Vanguard Madara might honestly be on another level entirely. The moment players started testing him, it became obvious that this was not just another flashy update character. His passives, map-wide pressure, automatic upgrades, and insane synergy with Ninjutsu mechanics make him feel completely broken in certain setups.
Even before fully understanding all of his mechanics, players were already watching him melt bosses with almost no support. Once his abilities started getting explained properly, the hype around him became even bigger.
Here is a full breakdown of how Monarch Vanguard Madara works, what makes him so powerful, and why many players already consider him one of the strongest units in the game.
Anime Vanguards 0.1% Monarch Vanguard Madara Guide
Right away, Madara looks incredible.
The Monarch effect gives him a blue aura while allowing him to float above the battlefield, which fits his Naruto inspiration perfectly. Even before attacking, he already looks like a final boss standing over the map.
His attacks are heavily inspired by some of Madara’s most iconic anime moments, especially the meteor attacks from the Shinobi War arc. Fans of Naruto will instantly recognize the references the moment he starts attacking.
The visual effects are flashy without becoming too overwhelming, and his ultimate animation is easily one of the coolest cutscenes added in Update 12.5.
Madara Automatically Maxes Himself Out
One of the craziest things about this unit is how he interacts with the Ninjutsu system.
At first, players thought the showcase bugged out because Madara instantly appeared at max upgrade after placement. However, this is actually part of his passive kit.
If Madara is the only Ninjutsu unit on your team, he immediately gains max upgrades the moment he is placed.
That means you can place him down and instantly have a fully upgraded endgame unit without spending time manually leveling him up.
This mechanic alone already makes him incredibly strong for fast clears, farming, and difficult stages where early setup time matters.
Understanding His Ninjutsu Mechanics
Madara heavily revolves around the new Ninjutsu system introduced with the Naruto-themed units.
For players unfamiliar with it, Ninjutsu allows units to interact with each other through special placement effects. Certain units can replace or support each other while inheriting upgrades and triggering bonus effects.
Madara’s passive becomes even stronger when used with this system.
When placed through Ninjutsu, he gains additional bonuses including:
- Slumber debuffs on all enemies
- Bonus damage scaling
- Automatic upgrade interactions
- Stronger map-wide pressure
This makes him one of the best synergy units in the update, especially alongside other Naruto-based characters.
Infinite Dreams Passive
Madara’s main passive is called Infinite Dreams, and it is honestly ridiculous.
The passive gives him several powerful effects at once.
Whenever a unit activates Ninjutsu, Madara can trigger special interactions tied to enemy debuffs and damage amplification. If placed through Ninjutsu, he inflicts Slumber on enemies across the map.
Slumber does two important things:
- Stuns enemies briefly
- Makes enemies take increased damage
This alone already makes him valuable for team support, but the passive keeps getting stronger from there.
Samsara Eye Passive
Madara also has a passive called Samsara Eye.
This passive makes him immune to status debuffs, which is always incredibly useful in harder content where enemies constantly apply annoying effects.
But the strongest part is what happens when he attacks debuffed enemies.
Whenever Madara attacks a debuffed target:
- He deals 100% extra damage
- He applies Nullify
Nullify is one of the strongest mechanics in the game because it disables enemy defensive effects and ignores damage reduction mechanics.
This is especially important against bosses or enemies designed to reduce incoming damage. Madara simply bypasses many of those mechanics completely.
And since Slumber itself counts as a debuff, he can often trigger his own bonus damage without needing another support unit.
Shadow Clone Passive
Another interesting mechanic is tied to his Shadow Clone ability.
When Madara is sold through Ninjutsu interactions, he can automatically place another random Ninjutsu unit from your team bar.
This creates some very creative team-building possibilities where players rotate Naruto-themed units together for chain reactions and additional pressure.
Even though this mechanic is more situational than his damage passives, it adds a lot of flexibility and makes the Ninjutsu system feel more unique.
Damage Output Is Completely Insane
The numbers on Monarch Madara are honestly ridiculous.
At max upgrade, he reaches:
- Full AoE attacks
- Around 1.2 million damage
- Roughly 7-second SPA
- Huge 57 range
- Double attack follow-ups
- Map-wide debuffs
- Damage amplification
- Nullify application
And that is without fully optimized setups.
The showcase itself was not even using his strongest possible build. He did not have maximum support buffs or the best familiar setup, meaning his damage ceiling is probably even higher than what players have already seen.
His Follow-Up Attacks Make Him Even Stronger
One detail that surprised many players is that Madara basically attacks twice.
Every normal attack is followed up by an additional attack, dramatically increasing his overall DPS. During boss testing, this allowed him to delete massive health bars much faster than expected.
Even bosses with multiplied HP pools were getting destroyed quickly without needing heavy support.
The fact that he combines:
- Full AoE
- Double attacks
- Debuff scaling
- Damage amplification
- Nullify
all in one kit is what makes him feel so overwhelming.
God of Seasons Ultimate Ability
Madara’s ultimate ability, God of Seasons, is another major highlight.
When activated, he deals massive map-wide damage to all enemies at once. The cutscene itself looks amazing and fits perfectly with the overpowered “final boss” fantasy the character is supposed to represent.
The damage scales incredibly well and becomes even more dangerous in longer runs where enemies stack together.
Even though the ability has limited charges, it still works as an excellent panic button or boss finisher.
Monarch Vanguard Madara absolutely lives up to the hype.
The developers clearly wanted him to feel powerful, and they definitely succeeded. Between the instant max upgrades, insane debuff interactions, huge AoE attacks, and ridiculous boss damage, he already feels like one of the strongest units Anime Vanguards has ever released.
What makes him even better is that he does not rely on only one gimmick. Almost every part of his kit works together naturally, making him useful in both farming and endgame content.
If you manage to get Monarch Madara during Update 12.5, you are basically getting one of the strongest and most complete units currently available in the game.
