Re Rangers X Tier List Guide – Best Units in Update 1

With the return of Re:Rangers X, many players are jumping back into the game and trying to figure out which units are actually worth investing in. The re-release has brought some balance tweaks and new strategies, but even early on, a clear meta is forming.

Some characters dominate with powerful passives and huge damage numbers, while others struggle because of high deployment costs or weak abilities. After extensive gameplay and testing across story stages, raids, and fast clears, this tier list gives a realistic overview of which units perform best in Re:Rangers X Update 1.

Re Rangers X Tier List Guide – Best Units in Update 1

Instead of overcomplicating things, the rankings are split into four simple categories so players can quickly understand the current meta.

Tier Categories Explained

To keep the list clear and practical, units are divided into the following tiers:

Meta
These are the strongest units in the game right now. They dominate most game modes and offer the highest performance.

B Tier
Solid characters that can perform well but are not the strongest picks.

C Tier
Average units that may work early on but fall behind stronger options.

Support
Units that help the team through buffs or debuffs instead of dealing the main damage.

Meta Tier – Top Units in Re:Rangers X

Etto (Crimson Owl)

If there is one character almost every player agrees on, it is Etto.

She currently sits at the top of the meta because her overall kit is simply overloaded with value. Her attacks deal extremely high damage, her range allows her to stay safe, and one of her most impressive abilities lets her revive herself after being defeated.

This revival effect means she can stay active in battles much longer than most units. Combined with high DPS, Etto becomes a centerpiece for many late-game teams.

Saber

Saber is one of the best units for speed clearing stages.

What makes her special is how fast she can eliminate enemies while moving quickly through stages. Players who farm stages or events often rely on Saber because she can clear maps in extremely short times.

Her abilities might look simple at first glance, but her damage and speed together make her incredibly efficient, especially when trying to finish content quickly.

Leaf Ninja (Dodge Build)

This ninja-style unit has become a favorite for players who enjoy rushing strategies.

Unlike most DPS units that rely only on damage, this character can be built with extremely high evasion, allowing him to dodge attacks repeatedly. Because of this, some players actually prefer using the blue rarity version rather than the evolved form, since it works better with dodge-focused gear.

When paired with Saber, these two units can clear certain modes almost instantly.

Black Mask + Reaper Combination

Black Mask becomes far stronger when combined with Reaper-type units.

One Reaper has a passive that boosts the damage of all Black Mask units by 50% permanently after gaining stacks. Black Mask also gains extra damage and healing during combat.

When these effects stack together, the damage output becomes surprisingly high. This synergy is one reason many players consider this combo a strong DPS setup in Re:Rangers X.

Best Support Unit

Umbrella Fang

Umbrella Fang is one of the most useful support units currently available.

His main ability causes enemies to take 10% more damage from all sources. While that number may sound small, it becomes extremely powerful when your main DPS units are dealing thousands of damage.

When used alongside characters like Etto, the total damage increase becomes noticeable very quickly. Players who manage to obtain duplicates of Umbrella Fang can push this effect even further.

B Tier – Good but Not Game-Changing

These characters are still usable but do not define the meta.

Moa

Moa benefits from being a Legend Stage unit, meaning his base stats are stronger than many regular characters. However, his abilities do not provide enough impact compared to top-tier units.

He can still help in early or mid-game content but usually gets replaced later.

Z-Fighter Buff Unit

This character focuses on buffing Z-Fighter teammates, increasing their damage, range, and movement speed. He also has a small burst attack that can help during fights.

While not the strongest standalone DPS unit, he can be useful in teams built around Z-Fighter characters.

Virtual Swordswoman + Kyito Combo

Virtual Swordswoman provides buffs that increase Kyito’s critical chance, making the pair stronger together.

Individually they may not look impressive, but when used as a combination they can perform reasonably well. Some players believe this duo may become stronger in future updates depending on balance changes.

C Tier – Average Units

These characters are playable but currently struggle compared to stronger units.

Bleed Mythic Unit

This mythic character focuses mainly on bleed damage, but the overall stats are underwhelming and the cost to deploy the unit is quite high.

Bleed-based teams were extremely strong in older versions of the game, so this unit could improve if that strategy returns.

Broly-Style Unit

This unit gains extra range after each kill, which sounds useful but does not provide enough impact during intense battles. Combined with a high cost, the unit often feels inefficient.

Stitchblade Reaper

Stitchblade Reaper also focuses on bleed effects. At the moment, bleed strategies are not dominating the meta, which limits this unit’s effectiveness.

However, if bleed teams return in a future update, this character might become more relevant.

Weak Units to Avoid

Some characters currently perform poorly compared to others.

Void Mask

Void Mask is widely considered one of the weakest expensive units in Re:Rangers X.

Despite costing a lot to deploy, its main ability only has a 5% chance to instantly defeat an enemy, which rarely happens during normal gameplay.

Because of this extremely low probability, most players avoid using this unit.

Shanks

Shanks has a 15% chance to stun enemies, but the low chance combined with average damage makes the unit unreliable in most situations.

Molten Phantom

Molten Phantom slows strong enemies when using a skill, but the effect is too situational and the unit costs too much compared to better options.

Future Meta Possibilities

The meta in Re:Rangers X will likely continue evolving as new updates arrive. Some currently average units could become powerful if new characters introduce synergy with their abilities.

For example, bleed-focused units once dominated the meta in earlier versions of the game. If similar mechanics return, characters that seem weak now might suddenly become extremely valuable.

Right now, the Re:Rangers X Update 1 meta revolves around high DPS units like Etto and fast rushers such as Saber. Support characters like Umbrella Fang also play an important role by boosting the entire team’s damage output.

While many units are still being tested by the community, focusing on strong DPS characters and speed-clearing units remains the most reliable way to progress through stages and farm rewards efficiently in the current version of the game.
