All Star Tower Defense Perfect Insect Guide – How to Get

If you’ve been playing All Star Tower Defense for a while, you probably remember when Perfect Insect was one of those units you couldn’t just casually pick up. Well, that has changed.

Perfect Insect is now available through raids, and the developers also gave the unit a buff at the same time. That makes this a pretty interesting opportunity, especially if you skipped the unit when it was originally available.

And honestly, after looking at the numbers, I was expecting it to be decent at best. It ended up being way stronger than I expected.

So, here’s what you need to know about Perfect Insect, including his stats, upgrades, abilities, damage, and whether he’s actually worth getting now.

The biggest change is that Perfect Insect is now obtainable for free through raids.

Previously, the unit was tied to an older challenge/event, making it much harder to obtain. Now that he’s been added to the raid pool, getting your hands on him is considerably easier.

The timing is actually pretty good because the unit didn’t just become easier to obtain. Perfect Insect was also buffed with the new release.

So if you already skipped him in the past because he wasn’t worth the effort, this is a good reason to take another look.

At Level 1, Perfect Insect is a Nature-type ground unit with a placement cost of 500.

His starting stats are:

• 12.6K damage

• 8-second attack speed

• 60 range

• Nature enchant

• 8 placement limit

He also has several categories and traits, including Unrivaled Intelligence, Unworldly Beans, Pure Evil, Final Bosses, Revival, and DEF.

His leader skill gives units in the DEF category a +20% attack boost.

That last part is worth remembering if you’re building a team around DEF units, since Perfect Insect isn’t only useful for his personal damage.

When you first place Perfect Insect, he has an AoE Circle attack with around 15.2K damage, an 8-second attack speed, and 60 range.

The first animation is pretty simple.

Perfect Insect essentially throws out an air cutter, slicing through the enemies in front of him.

It’s not exactly the most impressive animation you’ll see in ASTD, and you can definitely tell this is an older unit. But that’s not really what we’re here for.

The important part is how quickly his stats start improving once you begin upgrading him.

Perfect Insect gets a surprisingly large number of upgrades.

Early upgrades add roughly:

• +2K damage

• +5K damage

• +10K damage

• +16K damage

The interesting change happens during these upgrades because his attack eventually turns into a much larger full AoE attack.

This happens with the Spirit Breaker upgrade.

And that’s a pretty important improvement.

Instead of having to rely on a smaller attack area, Perfect Insect can start hitting enemies across a much wider area. For stages where enemies are coming through in groups, that makes a big difference.

Once you reach Spirit Breaker, Perfect Insect’s attack becomes a full AoE.

He also gets a new energy-based attack animation.

The animation itself isn’t anything revolutionary, and this is probably the biggest weakness of the unit. You can definitely see the age of the original character model and effects.

Still, I wouldn’t let the animation fool you.

The damage is where Perfect Insect starts getting ridiculous.

Later on, Perfect Insect gets the Solar Blue Beam upgrade.

This adds:

• +16.5K damage

• +20K damage

• +280K damage

• Range increased to 100

• AoE changed to a Cone

So now you’ve got significantly more range while also getting a different attack shape.

The animation doesn’t appear to receive a major overhaul here, which is another reminder that this is an older unit that hasn’t received the same visual treatment as some of the newer ASTD characters.

But again, the stats make up for it.

The final upgrades push his damage even further.

You get approximately:

• +500K damage

• +700K damage

• +900K damage

And that’s essentially where his upgrade path ends.

At Level 1, Perfect Insect can reach around 20.3 million damage before additional buffs.

That’s honestly a pretty crazy number for a unit that is now obtainable through raids.

This is where Perfect Insect becomes genuinely interesting.

After applying a buff in the showcase, his damage reaches around 81.5 million.

Remember, this is still an 8-placement unit.

That’s a huge amount of damage potential, especially when you consider that you can place multiple copies of Perfect Insect.

This is why the unit feels much better than you might expect from an older ASTD character.

Yes. Perfect Insect is actually very good after the buff.

I wouldn’t call him the most modern-looking unit in the game, because his animations definitely show their age. But if you’re judging him based on actual usefulness rather than flashy effects, there’s a lot to like here.

His biggest strengths are his:

• High damage

• Nature enchant

• Large AoE

• 100 range

• 8 placement limit

• DEF leader skill

• Easy availability through raids

And because he can be obtained for free, there’s really not much reason to skip him if you’re actively playing ASTD.

Perfect Insect is absolutely worth getting in All Star Tower Defense.

The fact that he’s now available through raids makes him much easier to obtain, and the buff gives him a serious upgrade in usefulness.

He starts with respectable damage, gains larger AoE coverage through his upgrades, reaches 100 range, and can climb to around 20.3M damage at Level 1. With buffs, the showcase pushes him to around 81.5M damage.

That’s impressive for a unit that’s essentially free to obtain.

The animations may feel outdated, but honestly, that’s a small price to pay for the damage he’s putting out.

If you’re still building your roster or you’re looking for something to help with Nature raids, I’d definitely make the effort to pick up Perfect Insect. He’s one of those units that might look like an old character at first glance, but once you actually see the numbers, you realize he’s still got plenty of life left in him.
