Anime Apocalypse Shanks & Imu Guide – New Abilities

The newest Anime Apocalypse update is here, and two brand-new abilities have immediately caught everyone’s attention: Red-Haired Pirate and Primordial Devil.
If you’ve been wondering whether these abilities are actually worth getting or if they’re just flashy additions to the update, I tested both of them to see how they perform in actual gameplay.
And honestly? I expected a little more from both.

That doesn’t mean they’re bad, though. There are definitely some abilities that stand out, especially once you unlock their stronger moves. So let’s go through everything you need to know about both of these new additions.
Red-Haired Pirate – Shanks Ability
First up is Red-Haired Pirate, which is essentially the game’s Shanks-inspired ability.
The first thing you’ll notice is the basic M1 attack. Each hit deals around 120 damage, which is pretty reasonable, although the basic attacks aren’t anything particularly spectacular.
The real question is how the abilities perform.
Red-Haired Pirate First Skill – Usto
The first move is called Usto.
When you activate it, your character performs a quick slash that travels forward toward enemies.
It’s extremely fast, but that’s also part of the problem. The attack doesn’t feel particularly impactful. You activate it, see the slash, and it’s basically over immediately.
It gets the job done, but if you’re expecting something that feels like a massive Shanks attack, you’ll probably be left wanting more.
Red-Haired Pirate Second Skill – Ground Breaking Waves
The second ability is Ground Breaking Waves, and this one is another very fast attack.

You get a quick burst of damage in front of you, making it useful for clearing enemies without wasting much time.
Again, though, the visual impact isn’t amazing.
It’s decent. It works. But it doesn’t have that “wow” factor you’d probably expect from an ability based around Shanks.
Red-Haired Pirate Third Skill – Crimson Lunge
Next is Crimson Lunge.
This move sends your character forward in a quick attack.

Once again, it’s perfectly usable, but there’s nothing particularly crazy about it. Compared to some of the stronger abilities already available in Anime Apocalypse, Crimson Lunge feels fairly basic.
The faster animations can be useful when you’re trying to clear missions quickly, but visually, it doesn’t stand out much.
Red-Haired Pirate V Skill
Things get considerably better once you reach the V skill.
This ability feels much more impressive than the first few moves, especially when you’re fighting groups of enemies.
The attack has a much stronger visual presence, and it simply feels more satisfying to use.

If I were choosing the standout move from the Red-Haired Pirate ability, this would definitely be one of them.
Red-Haired Pirate Ultimate
Unfortunately, the ultimate is where I was expecting much more.
The attack happens extremely quickly.
So quickly, in fact, that it’s difficult to even see what’s happening before the entire animation is already finished.
That’s a little disappointing for an ultimate, because you’d normally expect the strongest ability in the kit to have the biggest visual impact.

The damage may still make it useful, but purely from a presentation standpoint, it doesn’t leave the same impression as some other ultimates in the game.
Overall, I’d put Red-Haired Pirate around 6.5/10.
It’s usable, and there are definitely some good moves in the kit, but I don’t think the ability completely lives up to the hype.
Primordial Devil – Imu Ability
Now let’s move on to Primordial Devil.
I was actually expecting this one to be significantly better, especially after testing Red-Haired Pirate.

The basic attacks are decent, although they’re a little difficult to see clearly during combat.
The real test is obviously going to be the abilities.
Primordial Devil First Skill – Omen Flicker
The first ability is Omen Flicker.
When activated, it fires a small projectile toward the target.
It’s a straightforward attack and works fine for dealing damage from a little distance.
There’s nothing particularly wrong with it, but just like several of the Red-Haired Pirate moves, it doesn’t feel extremely impactful.
It’s one of those abilities where you use it and think, “Yeah, that works,” rather than immediately being impressed.
Primordial Devil Second Skill – Devilish Explosion
The second move is Devilish Explosion, and this one is considerably more interesting.
The explosion gives the attack a much stronger presence, and it’s one of the first Primordial Devil abilities that actually feels satisfying to activate.
If you’re using the ability for farming or clearing groups of enemies, this is one of the moves I’d pay attention to.
Primordial Devil Third Skill – Blade of Judgment
The third ability is Blade of Judgment.
Once again, it’s a decent attack, and when combined with the other skills, it gives Primordial Devil a solid overall kit.
However, I still had the same issue here: the attacks don’t feel quite as impactful as you’d expect.
The damage can be useful, but the animations and effects don’t necessarily make the ability feel as powerful as its name suggests.
Primordial Devil V Skill – Stigma
The V skill is called Stigma.
This one is a little difficult to describe because the animation is quite unusual, but it does give Primordial Devil another useful attack to work with.
It’s not necessarily the best part of the kit, but it adds some variety to the ability and can help with clearing enemies.
Primordial Devil Ultimate
Now THIS is where Primordial Devil finally starts to shine.
The ultimate is noticeably better than the other abilities.
Compared with Red-Haired Pirate’s extremely short ultimate, Primordial Devil’s ultimate actually feels like a proper powerful ability.
The animation has more presence, the attack is easier to appreciate, and overall it simply feels much more satisfying to use.
This is easily the best part of the Primordial Devil kit.
If you’re considering getting the ability mainly because you want an impressive ultimate, Primordial Devil definitely has the advantage here.
Shanks vs Imu – Which Ability Is Better?
After testing both, I’d give Primordial Devil the slight edge.
Neither ability completely blew me away, but Primordial Devil’s ultimate gives it a noticeable advantage.
The ratings are similar because both have some strong points and some disappointing ones.
Red-Haired Pirate has some quick and useful attacks, with the V skill being one of its better moves. However, the ultimate feels far too short and doesn’t give you much time to appreciate what’s happening.
Primordial Devil has a few average abilities, but its ultimate is much more impressive and helps carry the entire kit.
If you’re collecting the newest abilities or simply want to try something different, then yes, both are worth checking out.
But if you’re spending a lot of resources specifically for the strongest possible ability, I’d probably test them first before committing.
Red-Haired Pirate doesn’t feel like the overwhelmingly powerful Shanks ability you might expect from the name, while Primordial Devil is carried heavily by its ultimate.
Personally, I’d lean toward Primordial Devil if I had to choose between the two.
The biggest thing I’d like to see is some additional polish to the animations. Both kits have attacks that work perfectly fine mechanically, but they don’t always feel as powerful as they actually are because the animations are so quick.
Still, if you want the new abilities from the latest Anime Apocalypse update, Shanks and Imu are definitely the two names to keep an eye on.
