Money becomes pretty important in San Diego Border Roleplay once you stop wandering around and actually start buying things, but figuring out the best way to earn it isn’t immediately obvious.

There are regular ways to make cash, sure, but if your goal is to build up a serious balance, there are two methods worth knowing about: using Money Printers as a civilian and confiscating Money Printers while playing as police.

After looking at both, Money Printers are easily the more interesting option because they can generate cash continuously. There’s a catch, though: you’re essentially putting an investment inside an apartment and hoping the police don’t come knocking.

Here’s how both methods work and which one I’d use if I were starting from scratch.

For consistent income, Money Printers are the better method.

The police method can give you a nice chunk of cash when you find someone with several printers, but it depends heavily on other players. You could search apartments and find a jackpot, or spend your time looking around without finding anything useful.

With your own Money Printers, you’re controlling the setup yourself.

Let’s start with that method.

You’ll need to play as a Civilian to set this method up.

After switching to the Civilian team, you’ll want to travel toward the tunnel area.

Once you’re there, look for the NPC that provides access to the tunnel. Head through and find the location where Money Printers are sold.

According to the demonstrated method, a Money Printer costs roughly:

$20,000

That means you’ll need some starting cash before this becomes worthwhile.

If you can afford several printers, that’s even better. Your income scales with the number of printers you’re running, so this method becomes considerably stronger once you’ve built up enough money to reinvest.

If you’ve only got enough money for one printer, start with one.

If you’ve already built up a decent cash reserve, buying multiple printers will increase your income.

However, I wouldn’t necessarily spend every dollar you own immediately.

Money Printers come with risk.

If police find and confiscate them, you’ve potentially lost the printers you paid for. Having a little cash left over gives you something to fall back on if the setup goes badly.

Once you’ve bought your printers, there’s another important step before heading to your apartment.

This part is easy to overlook.

You want to make sure you’ve crossed the border legally.

Don’t simply use an illegal route and immediately head to the apartments.

Police players have access to immigration checks. If you’ve crossed illegally, that can create the circumstances that allow them to take action against you.

That’s exactly what you don’t want when you’re about to put a pile of expensive Money Printers inside your apartment.

So take the extra time and cross properly.

It may feel slower, but you’re trying to create a setup that can sit there generating money for a long period. Saving a minute on the border isn’t worth making yourself an easier target afterward.

Once you’re across the border, travel to the apartments and purchase/rent an available apartment.

Location matters more than you might expect.

I’d avoid immediately grabbing the easiest apartment on the bottom floor.

Instead, head upstairs.

The demonstrated strategy recommends going roughly two or three floors up and choosing an apartment toward the back.

There’s a simple reason for that.

Police players looking for Money Printers know that people use apartments to farm them. If your apartment is sitting somewhere extremely obvious, you’re not exactly making their job difficult.

An upper-floor apartment toward the back at least makes your setup less convenient to stumble across.

It’s not guaranteed protection, though. Experienced police players may check the entire building.

Once you’ve got your apartment, place your Money Printers inside.

They’ll begin generating money automatically.

And this is where the strategy becomes so strong.

In the example setup, the income was fluctuating around approximately:

$130–$140 per second

Using the higher $140 figure:

$140 × 60 = $8,400 per minute

If that rate remained completely consistent, mathematically that would work out to:

$504,000 per hour

That’s an enormous amount compared with the roughly $20,000 purchase price mentioned for a printer.

However, treat those numbers as an example rather than a guaranteed fixed income rate. Your actual earnings can depend on your setup, number of printers and any game changes affecting Money Printers.

The important point is that multiple printers can produce cash extremely quickly once they’re running.

Money Printers are especially attractive because you don’t necessarily need to actively perform a job every few seconds while they’re generating income.

That makes them useful during periods when you’re not actively roaming around the map.

The original method suggests using an auto-clicker to prevent Roblox’s inactivity system from disconnecting you. Keep in mind that third-party automation can potentially conflict with a game’s own rules, so check the game’s current rules before using anything designed to bypass inactivity.

You don’t actually need automation to benefit from Money Printers either.

You can stay active in-game, occasionally check your apartment, and let the printers generate income while you’re playing.

In fact, actively monitoring them has one major advantage.

You’ll know when something is going wrong.

There’s a reason this method isn’t completely free money.

Police can confiscate your Money Printers.

Remember how I mentioned the second money-making strategy?

You’re effectively creating that strategy for somebody else.

Police players can search apartments for people running Money Printers. If you’re eligible for a raid and they successfully get inside, those expensive printers can become their payday instead of yours.

This creates a funny little economy:

Civilian: “I’m going to become rich with Money Printers.”

Police: “I’m going to become rich confiscating that guy’s Money Printers.”

So don’t assume that simply hiding on an upper floor makes your setup untouchable.

Yes.

You can pick up your Money Printers when you’re finished using them.

That’s worth remembering because leaving expensive printers sitting around unnecessarily creates additional risk.

If you’re about to stop farming or change what you’re doing, collect your equipment instead of abandoning it.

No.

Based on the demonstrated setup, Money Printers cannot be placed inside your safe.

You’ll therefore need to manage them manually rather than relying on the safe as permanent protected storage.

That’s another reason to pay attention to your printers rather than forgetting about them.

Don’t want to become the person hiding printers?

Become the person looking for them instead.

Open the Teams menu and join the Police.

Once you’ve spawned, grab a police vehicle and travel toward the apartment building.

You’re looking for civilian players using apartments to run Money Printers.

The particularly tempting targets are players who appear to be AFK while several printers are running inside.

But being police doesn’t mean you can simply kick down every apartment door you see.

When you find an occupied apartment, identify the player who owns it.

You can use your police tools/tablet to perform the relevant immigration check on that player.

You’re checking whether they crossed the border legitimately.

If the player is clear, you don’t automatically have justification to raid them.

If they’ve illegally crossed and become wanted/eligible for enforcement, you may be able to obtain the necessary warrant and proceed.

In other words, don’t treat the apartment building like a free-for-all where every door contains $10,000.

Check the player’s status first.

This is what makes the police strategy surprisingly profitable.

The demonstrated reward is approximately:

$10,000 per confiscated Money Printer.

That means finding an apartment packed with printers can result in a pretty substantial payout.

For example, at that reported reward:

Obviously, the hard part isn’t the multiplication.

It’s actually finding eligible apartments with Money Printers inside.

That’s why I wouldn’t call this as consistent as owning printers yourself.

Here’s something I’d definitely do when playing police: check upstairs.

Players know the apartment building gets searched.

Because of that, Money Printer farmers may deliberately choose rooms on higher floors or toward the back of the building.

Don’t check two doors downstairs, find nothing and assume the server has no printers.

Work your way upward and look at which apartments are occupied.

You may hear Money Printers operating nearby as well, which can help narrow down where they’re being used.

If we’re talking purely about consistent money generation, I’d pick Money Printers.

Once you have enough starting cash to buy them, they can generate money continuously without requiring you to hunt other players.

Police confiscation is much more situational.

I’d break the choice down like this:

Use Money Printers if:

You already have some starting cash, want continuous income, and don’t mind risking your investment.

Play Police if:

You don’t want to invest in printers yourself and enjoy actively searching for players while potentially earning large confiscation rewards.

There’s also nothing stopping you from switching strategies depending on the server.

If nobody seems to be running printers, searching apartments as police isn’t going to accomplish much.

If the apartment building is packed with players, however, suddenly the police strategy becomes much more interesting.

If you’re going with Money Printers, I’d follow this order:

• Switch to Civilian.

• Travel to the tunnel.

• Get tunnel access.

• Buy one or more Money Printers for roughly $20K each.

• Cross the border legally.

• Travel to the apartments.

• Choose an apartment a few floors up, preferably farther back.

• Place your Money Printers.

• Let them generate cash while keeping an eye on your apartment.

• Pick up the printers when you’re finished.

The legal border crossing is probably the step I’d be most careful about.

The entire point is to make your apartment farm less vulnerable to police intervention. Creating immigration problems for yourself immediately before setting it up works against that.

If you’re relatively new and don’t have enough cash for a huge printer farm, don’t worry about copying players with rooms full of them.

Start small.

If one printer costs around $20,000, buy one and use the income to rebuild your cash reserve.

Once you’ve earned enough, you can consider buying another.

Then another.

Your progression effectively becomes:

Starting Cash → First Printer → Profit → More Printers → Higher Income

This is much more sensible than blowing your entire balance on several printers and leaving yourself with nothing if the setup gets raided immediately.
