If you are looking for a Roblox RPG that is a little different from the usual games, Exurbia is definitely worth checking out. In this guide, we will go over what the game is, how to get started, how the combat works, and some of the important things you should know as a new player.

Exurbia is mainly focused on monster hunting, exploration, quests, combat, and collecting different items. It also has a home system where you can decorate and upgrade your own house, which gives you something to do outside of fighting monsters.

The game can be a little confusing when you first start because it does not explain everything to you. So, I’ll go through the important systems and give you an idea of what you should do when you first start playing.

Exurbia is a Roblox fantasy RPG that focuses heavily on monster hunting and action combat. The combat takes some inspiration from Monster Hunter, especially when it comes to fighting larger enemies, learning their attack patterns, dodging attacks, and waiting for the right time to attack.

But it is not only about fighting.

You also have quests, exploration, companions, dungeons, pets, resources, and your own house that you can upgrade and decorate.

The game is also still a relatively small project, so you might not see a huge player count when you join. Honestly, that is part of what makes it interesting because it feels like one of those Roblox games you can easily miss if you are only playing the biggest games.

When you first enter Exurbia, you might be wondering what you are actually supposed to do.

One of the first things I recommend doing is finding where you can get a weapon. Your weapon is going to be extremely important because most of your early progression revolves around combat.

The Dual Blades are one of the weapons you can use early on, and they are a good option if you like fast attacks.

You will also want to get comfortable with the basic movement mechanics:

• Rolling

• Dodging

• Basic attacks

• Rush attacks

• Special moves

Don’t immediately run into the strongest monster you can find. Spend a little time getting used to the movement because dodging is extremely important in this game.

If you just stand in front of a monster and spam attacks, you are probably going to get destroyed pretty quickly.

Combat is probably the biggest part of Exurbia, and it is also one of the things I like most about the game.

You can’t always just stand next to a monster and keep attacking. You need to watch what the monster is doing and learn when it is safe to attack.

You can use jumping, rolling, and dodging to avoid attacks. Rush attacks are also useful because they let you quickly close the distance between you and the monster.

With the Dual Blades, you can also use Blade Dance, which can deal a lot of damage when you successfully use the rush mechanic.

For beginners, I would recommend playing like this:

• Watch the monster before attacking.

• Learn its main attacks.

• Dodge or roll when it attacks.

• Attack after the monster finishes its move.

• Use rush attacks to close the distance.

• Save stronger moves for safe openings.

• Heal when your HP gets low.

• Use your companion to distract the monster.

• Don’t keep attacking when the monster is preparing a major attack.

Once you start understanding the monster’s behavior, the fights become much easier.

After you get through the beginning, you can start taking quests from NPCs.

These quests will send you into different areas to complete objectives, usually involving hunting specific monsters.

One of the early quests has you hunting a Level 1 White Shwampy Standing in the Inverted Desert. You have a time limit, so you need to find the monster and defeat it before the expedition ends.

Don’t let the Level 1 requirement fool you, though.

Some monsters can still have a lot of health and deal serious damage if you are not prepared. You may need to spend several minutes learning their attacks before you can comfortably defeat them.

While you are exploring, make sure you also look around for loot and other objects. Some of the things you find can be useful later or can even be used to decorate your house.

Some of the first monster fights can be surprisingly difficult.

The best thing you can do is stop treating the fight like a normal Roblox game where you simply spam your attacks.

Watch the monster.

When it attacks and misses, that is usually your opportunity to deal some damage. If you see a big attack coming, focus on getting out of the way instead of trying to get one more hit in.

Your companion can also help here because they can take some of the monster’s attention away from you.

There are also monster parts that can be damaged or destroyed during some fights. For example, you can cut off a monster’s tail, which actually changes how the monster looks afterward.

That is a pretty cool detail and makes the fights feel more like actual monster hunting.

Your companion can be very useful, especially when you are still learning the combat.

Once you have the required item, you can use a whistle to summon your companion.

The companion will fight alongside you and can attract the monster’s attention. This gives you a chance to move away, heal, or attack while the monster is focused on them.

Just don’t depend on your companion too much.

They can still get defeated by stronger monsters, so you should treat them more like a distraction and extra help rather than something that will carry the entire fight for you.

If the game allows you to summon them again, you can use them during longer fights to help take some pressure off you.

Dungeons are also worth exploring because they are not only about killing monsters.

You can find different resources, loot, and other objects while exploring.

Some locations also contain furniture that you can take back to your house and use for decoration.

So your general gameplay loop can look something like this:

• Explore the area.

• Collect resources.

• Look for loot.

• Find and hunt the target monster.

• Complete the expedition.

• Return home.

• Upgrade or decorate your house.

Your house is another important part of the game.

As you complete objectives and progress, you can increase the size of your house. More space means you can place more furniture and decorations.

You can put things like:

• Desks

• TVs

• Cacti

• Decorative items

• Monster-related decorations

• Other furniture

Some of these items can actually be found while exploring dungeons.

So even if you find something that isn’t useful for combat, don’t automatically ignore it. It could be something you can use to make your house look better.

Money is another part of Exurbia’s progression.

You can use your money to buy different goods and recruit characters.

Recruiting NPCs is especially interesting because you can place them inside your house after hiring them. This makes your home feel more alive as you continue progressing.

There are also shops where you can spend your money on different items.

So instead of money just sitting there as another number, you actually have reasons to save and spend it.

Exurbia also has a pet and luck system.

You can use different dice or spins to try and obtain pets, and these pets can give you different bonuses.

For example, an elephant pet can increase your luck, which can help you with future rolls.

The system is based around random rewards, so you might need several attempts before getting the pet you actually want.

You don’t need the pet system to enjoy the combat, but it gives you another thing to work toward while playing.

I would say Exurbia is worth checking out if you enjoy Roblox RPGs and want something that focuses more on combat and exploration.

The beginning can definitely be confusing. The game doesn’t always tell you exactly where to go or what you should be doing, so you may have to explore and figure some things out yourself.

But once you understand how the combat works, the game becomes much more interesting.

Learning monster attack patterns, dodging attacks, using your abilities, completing hunts, collecting loot, and improving your character gives you a pretty good gameplay loop.

I also like that the game has things to do outside of combat. You can explore dungeons, collect furniture, recruit NPCs, work on your house, and collect pets.

Exurbia feels like a Roblox RPG that is trying something a little different. The Monster Hunter-inspired combat is probably the biggest reason to try it, especially if you enjoy fights where you actually need to pay attention to what the enemy is doing.

The game is not perfect, and new players will probably be confused at first. But once you figure out the basic systems, there is quite a lot to explore.

You have monster hunts, quests, dungeons, companions, pets, weapons, resources, and house customization to work toward.

So, if you are looking for a smaller Roblox RPG that isn’t just about standing around and spamming abilities, I think Exurbia is worth giving a try.
