Heavyweight Fishing Skills Guide – All Skills and How to Get
Published 29 Aug 2026, 6:07 am · 7 min read
Skills are one of the most interesting systems in Heavyweight Fishing because they give you another way to deal with Fish and bosses. Instead of relying only on your Rod, you can use different abilities to stun enemies, deal damage over time, survive boss attacks, and even boost your Rod’s Power.
In this Heavyweight Fishing Skills Guide, I’ll go through all of the currently available Skills and explain what each one does. I’ll also cover the two Skill Banners, the pity system, and the different ways you can get Tickets and Crystals for summoning.
If you’re just starting out, you don’t need to worry about collecting every Skill immediately. I’d recommend learning what each ability does first and then building your Skill setup around the type of Fish and bosses you’re having trouble with.

Heavyweight Fishing Skills Guide – All Skills and How to Get
Skills are special abilities that you can use while fishing and fighting powerful Fish.
They aren’t just simple damage abilities. Different Skills can provide completely different effects, including:
• Direct damage
• Damage over time
• Stuns

• Boss skill immunity
• Healing
• Rod Power boosts
• Boss invincibility bypass
Because of this, Skills can become extremely useful as you progress into harder areas.
A good Skill can help you control a difficult Fish, survive a boss attack, or increase your damage enough to finish an encounter much faster.

All Skills in Heavyweight Fishing
Here are all of the Skills currently available and what they do.
Skyfall Stomp
Skyfall Stomp is one of the simpler Skills to understand.
It stuns the Fish for 2 seconds while also dealing damage.
The stun duration isn’t particularly long compared with some of the other Skills, but having a quick control ability can still be useful during normal encounters.

If you’re still learning the combat system, this is the kind of Skill that’s easy to understand and use.
Taijiquan Technique
Taijiquan Technique gives you a much longer stun.
It can stun a Fish for 10 seconds while also dealing damage over time.
A 10-second stun gives you a good amount of time to deal damage without having to worry about the Fish attacking normally.
This can be especially useful against tougher targets where controlling the enemy gives you more time to finish the encounter.

Leopard Lock
Leopard Lock is another control-focused Skill.
It stuns the Fish for 10 seconds and deals 2 damage per second.
The combination of a long stun and damage over time makes it useful when you want to keep a Fish controlled while steadily dealing damage.
Whirlwind Fishing Art
Whirlwind Fishing Art is where Skills start becoming much more interesting.

This Skill makes you immune to damage from boss Skills.
It also deals your current damage to the Fish and stuns it for 12 seconds.
That 12-second stun is one of the longest listed in the current Skill lineup.
If you’re fighting a boss with dangerous abilities, the boss Skill immunity alone can make this Skill extremely valuable.
Iron Grip Art
Iron Grip Art focuses on controlling the Fish.

It stuns the target for 10 seconds and deals 1 damage per second.
The damage isn’t the main attraction here.
Instead, the long stun gives you time to continue fighting while the Fish is unable to act normally.
Dual Sonic Kick
Dual Sonic Kick is primarily a damage-over-time Skill.
It deals your current damage per second for up to 10 seconds.
Unlike some of the other Skills, it isn’t focused on a long stun or defensive effect.
If you simply want another way to apply consistent damage during an encounter, this Skill can be useful.
Shangqing Realm
Shangqing Realm is one of the more powerful utility Skills.
It provides immunity to boss Skills and can also bypass boss invincibility.
On top of that, it deals current damage and stuns the Fish for 4 seconds.
The boss invincibility bypass is particularly interesting because it gives the Skill a purpose beyond simply dealing damage.
If you start encountering bosses that rely heavily on invincibility mechanics, this is a Skill you’ll want to pay attention to.
Heaven’s Burden
Heaven’s Burden combines offense, defense, and healing.
When used, it:
• Makes you immune to boss Skills.
• Stuns the Fish for 10 seconds.
• Heals you for 25 HP.
• Deals your current damage every second.
I really like the flexibility of this Skill because it doesn’t force you to choose between surviving and dealing damage.
You get both.
That can make it especially useful during difficult boss encounters where you need some extra survivability.
Tiger’s Hunt
Tiger’s Hunt is focused heavily on increasing your Rod’s offensive power.
It boosts your Rod Power by 30 for 15 seconds while also dealing current damage per second.
The temporary Power increase means you’ll want to think about when you activate this Skill.
Rather than wasting the effect during an easy encounter, save it for a stronger Fish or a situation where the additional damage can make a meaningful difference.
Ruinous Sacrifice
Ruinous Sacrifice has one of the most extreme effects in the current Skill list.
It makes you immune to boss Skills and increases your Rod Power by 999 for 10 seconds.
It also deals current damage per second, but there’s a major drawback: the Skill drains 20 HP per second.
So while you’re getting a massive Power increase, you’re also sacrificing HP to maintain the effect.
This is definitely the kind of Skill where timing matters.
If you use it at the wrong time, the HP drain could put you in a dangerous situation.
But if you activate it at the right moment against a powerful target, the huge Power boost can be extremely valuable.
Vajra Godcast
Vajra Godcast provides a mixture of offense, control, and boss protection.
It gives you immunity to boss Skills, deals current damage, and stuns the Fish for 7 seconds.
Then, after 5 seconds, it deals an additional 50% of your current damage.
This gives the Skill a delayed damage component on top of its initial effects.
You’ll want to make sure you’re using it at a useful point in the fight so you can get the full benefit from the delayed effect.
How to Get Skills in Heavyweight Fishing
You obtain Skills by summoning them from one of the game’s two Skill Banners:
• Taiji Banner
• Egoless Banner
These Banners are where you’ll spend your Tickets or Crystals when you’re trying to obtain new Skills.
Because Skills can have very different effects, summoning is an important part of building your long-term setup.
Heavyweight Fishing Skill Pity System
The Skill Banners have a pity system that guarantees certain rarities after a specific number of summons.
The current pity requirements are:
• 30 summons — Guaranteed Legendary
• 120 summons — Guaranteed Mythical
• 1,000 summons — Guaranteed Secret
This is important to keep in mind if you’re saving Tickets or Crystals.
Instead of randomly spending everything as soon as you have enough for one summon, you may want to think about how close you are to a pity milestone.
How to Get Tickets and Crystals
You’ll need Tickets or Crystals to summon Skills.
These can be obtained through different parts of the game.
One of the easiest things to keep an eye on is Codes, as redeeming them can provide useful resources.
You can also earn Tickets and other rewards from certain Quests.
So, if you’re trying to build up your Skill collection without constantly spending resources, make sure you’re completing the available quests and checking for rewards.
Which Skills Should Beginners Use?
If you’re new to Heavyweight Fishing, I wouldn’t worry about chasing the absolute best Skill immediately.
Instead, look at what your current problem is.
If you’re struggling to survive a boss, a Skill that provides boss Skill immunity or healing could be more useful than a pure damage ability.
If your problem is simply killing Fish quickly, a damage-over-time Skill or Rod Power boost may be more useful.
For Crowd Control
Skills such as Taijiquan Technique, Leopard Lock, Iron Grip Art, and Whirlwind Fishing Art provide strong stun effects.
These are useful when you want to keep a Fish under control while dealing damage.
For Boss Protection
If you’re struggling against boss abilities, look toward Skills such as:
• Whirlwind Fishing Art
• Shangqing Realm
• Heaven’s Burden
• Ruinous Sacrifice
• Vajra Godcast
These Skills provide immunity to boss Skills.
For Damage
If you’re mainly concerned with increasing your damage output, Tiger’s Hunt and Ruinous Sacrifice stand out because they directly increase your Rod Power.
Just remember that Ruinous Sacrifice comes with the 20 HP-per-second drawback.
Final Thoughts
Skills add a lot more depth to Heavyweight Fishing than you might expect from a fishing simulator.
You can use them to stun Fish, deal damage over time, protect yourself from boss attacks, heal your character, bypass boss invincibility, or temporarily increase your Rod Power.
The current Skill pool includes everything from simple abilities like Skyfall Stomp to much more specialized Skills such as Shangqing Realm and Ruinous Sacrifice.
If you’re just starting, don’t feel like you need to build the perfect Skill setup immediately. Focus on learning what your abilities do and use Skills that solve the problems you’re currently having.
And whenever you’re ready to start collecting more Skills, remember that you can summon from the Taiji Banner and Egoless Banner, with pity milestones at 30, 120, and 1,000 summons for the listed rarities.
As you progress into stronger islands and tougher boss encounters, having the right Skills equipped can make a huge difference.
