Heavyweight Fishing Traits Guide – All Traits and Effects
Published 29 Aug 2026, 6:07 am · 7 min read
Traits are one of the systems you’ll want to understand once you start getting deeper into Heavyweight Fishing. They give your Skills passive bonuses, which can improve things like damage, cooldowns, Critical Chance, and even your ability to survive difficult boss fights.
In this Heavyweight Fishing Traits Guide, I’ll go through every Trait currently available and explain what each one does. I’ll also cover how Trait rerolls work and where you need to go when you want to change the Trait on one of your Skills.
You don’t need to chase the rarest Trait immediately, especially if you’re still progressing through the early islands. A simple damage, cooldown, or Critical Chance Trait can already make your Skills noticeably better while you’re working toward stronger options.

Heavyweight Fishing Traits Guide – All Traits and Effects
Traits are passive buffs that you can apply to your Skills.
Each Skill can have one Trait at a time, so you’ll need to choose your bonuses carefully.
Traits can improve several different aspects of a Skill, including:
• Damage
• Cooldown

• Critical Chance
• Critical Damage
• Healing
• Stuns
• Invincibility effects
• Boss invincibility bypass

This makes Traits a useful way to customize your Skills without having to replace the entire ability.
How to Reroll Traits
If you don’t like the Trait on one of your Skills, you can reroll it using Trait Crystals.
To do this, you’ll need to visit Nanjiang, who can be found on the different Islands.
The basic process is simple:
• Equip the Skill you want to modify.

• Visit Nanjiang.
• Use your Trait Crystals.
• Reroll the Skill’s Trait.
• Keep the Trait you want and continue progressing.
Because Traits have different rarity chances, getting one of the rarest effects can take quite a few rerolls.
All Heavyweight Fishing Traits
Here is the current list of Traits and their effects:
Common Traits
The first three Traits have a 30% chance each, making them some of the easiest bonuses to obtain.
Powerful
Powerful gives your Skill 5% additional Damage.
It’s a simple Trait, but don’t underestimate it if you’re still in the early game.

Extra damage is useful for almost every situation, especially when you’re trying to defeat Fish faster.
Swift
Swift provides 4% Cooldown reduction.
This allows you to use your Skill more frequently.
If you’re relying heavily on your abilities rather than basic fishing attacks, this can be a useful option.
Sharp
Sharp gives you 5% Critical Chance.
Critical hits can increase your overall damage output, so this is another straightforward offensive Trait.
For beginners, all three of these Traits are perfectly usable. You don’t need to reroll endlessly just because you didn’t get a rare Trait.
Uncommon Traits
The next group has a 15% chance of appearing.
These provide noticeably stronger bonuses compared with the basic Traits.
Berserk
Berserk gives you 15% Damage.
That’s a significant improvement over Powerful’s 5% Damage bonus.
If your main goal is to increase the damage of your Skills, Berserk is a very useful Trait to keep.
Rapid
Rapid provides 8% Cooldown reduction.
That’s twice the listed cooldown reduction of Swift.
If your playstyle revolves around repeatedly using Skills, Rapid can help you get your abilities back faster.
Precision
Precision gives you 15% Critical Chance.
This is a major improvement over Sharp’s 5% Critical Chance.
If you’re building around critical hits, Precision is definitely worth keeping.
Rare Traits
The next group has only a 2% chance of appearing.
These Traits are much harder to obtain but provide significantly stronger combinations of effects.
Executioner
Executioner provides:
• 25% Damage
• 10% Cooldown reduction
This is a great all-around offensive Trait because you’re getting both increased damage and faster Skill usage.
If you roll Executioner, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to reroll it.
Chrono
Chrono gives:
• 20% Cooldown reduction
• 10% Damage
This Trait focuses more heavily on Skill availability while still providing an offensive bonus.
If you like frequently using your abilities, Chrono can be extremely useful.
Assassin
Assassin provides:
• 25% Critical Chance
• 50% Critical Damage
This is an excellent choice for a critical-hit-focused build.
The combination of higher Critical Chance and Critical Damage can significantly improve the damage potential of your Skills.
Mythic Traits
The four rarest Traits currently have a listed chance of only 0.1%.
These are the Traits you’ll probably spend the most time chasing if you’re trying to optimize your Skills.
Azure Dragon
Azure Dragon is an extremely powerful offensive Trait.
It provides:
• 150% Damage
• 20% Cooldown reduction
• 75% Damage when below 50% HP
• Skill bypasses Invincibility when below 40% HP
The first two effects alone are already extremely strong.
The HP-based effects make it even more interesting because the Skill gains additional benefits when you’re in a dangerous situation.
If you’re lucky enough to roll Azure Dragon, this is absolutely a Trait I’d consider keeping.
Black Tortoise
Black Tortoise focuses on survivability while still providing offensive power.
It gives:
• 15% Max HP Heal
• 30% Damage
• Skills inflict Stun
• 20 seconds of Invincibility when below 20% HP
This is a very interesting Trait for difficult encounters because it can help you survive when your HP gets dangerously low.
The added Stun effect also gives your Skill another layer of utility.
White Tiger
White Tiger is built heavily around critical hits.
It gives:
• 50% Critical Chance
• 100% Critical Damage
• +5% Critical Chance per Skill Cast stack
• Maximum additional Critical Chance of 30%
If you’re building around Critical Chance and Critical Damage, this Trait can provide an enormous amount of offensive potential.
The stacking effect also rewards you for continuing to cast your Skill during a battle.
Vermillion Bird
Vermillion Bird is focused heavily on cooldown management.
It provides:
• 50% Cooldown reduction
• 30% Damage
• Skill cooldown reset once per battle
The cooldown reset is particularly interesting.
Getting your Skill back immediately at the right moment can make a major difference during a difficult battle.
If you rely heavily on one powerful Skill, Vermillion Bird can be extremely valuable.
Which Traits Are Best for Beginners?
If you’re still early in the game, I wouldn’t worry too much about getting a 0.1% Trait.
A common Trait that improves your Skill is better than spending all your resources trying to chase something extremely rare.
Best for Damage
If you simply want more damage, look for:
• Powerful
• Berserk
• Executioner
• Azure Dragon
Berserk and Executioner are particularly nice upgrades as you get further into the game.
Best for Cooldown
For more frequent Skill usage, look for:
• Swift
• Rapid
• Chrono
• Vermillion Bird
Cooldown reduction becomes especially useful if your build relies heavily on Skill rotations.
Best for Critical Builds
If you’re trying to build around critical hits, consider:
• Sharp
• Precision
• Assassin
• White Tiger
The rare Critical-focused Traits can provide a massive increase in your damage potential.
Best for Survivability
If surviving difficult boss fights is your biggest problem, Black Tortoise stands out.
Its healing, Stun, Damage, and emergency Invincibility effects make it one of the most defensive Traits available.
Should You Reroll Every Trait?
I wouldn’t.
Trait Crystals are valuable, and constantly rerolling every Skill can burn through your resources very quickly.
If you have something like Powerful, Swift, Sharp, or another useful Trait, you can keep it while continuing your progression.
Once you have better resources and a Skill that you know you’ll use for a long time, that’s when I’d start spending more Trait Crystals trying to get a stronger bonus.
The goal is to improve your build gradually rather than waste everything trying to hit a 0.1% Trait immediately.
Traits are a great way to make your Skills stronger in Heavyweight Fishing.
The system starts with simple bonuses such as 5% Damage, 4% Cooldown, and 5% Critical Chance, but it eventually becomes much more interesting when you start finding rare Traits such as Executioner, Chrono, and Assassin.
Then you have the extremely rare Azure Dragon, Black Tortoise, White Tiger, and Vermillion Bird, each of which can completely change how a Skill performs.
If you’re a beginner, my advice is to keep a useful Trait and continue progressing rather than wasting all your Trait Crystals on rerolls.
When you eventually have a Skill that you want to optimize, visit Nanjiang and start working toward a stronger Trait that matches your playstyle.
Whether you want more damage, faster cooldowns, critical hits, or better survivability, there’s a Trait that can help you build your Skills around exactly what you need.
