How to Get Castbound Rod Guide in Fisch – Hidden Passive

I’m just going to say it straight up, the Castbound Rod is easily one of the coolest-looking rods in the game right now. The moment you equip it, you’ll notice that extra avatar behind your character, and it just makes the whole thing feel different. It’s not just visuals either, this rod actually plays different too.

And yeah, if you’ve used Rod of the Deeps before, you’re going to recognize what’s going on here. But this one takes that idea and just pushes it way further. It’s basically that passive but turned all the way up.

So in this guide, I’ll walk you through how I got it, what you need to do, and then what it actually does once you start using it properly.

How to Get Castbound Rod Guide in Fisch

So it all starts the same way as some of the other rods from this update. You go up to the Guide NPC, and he gives you your first task.

The first thing he asks for is catching 10 shiny flying fishes from the ocean.

Now I’m not going to lie, this part is actually pretty easy, but where you fish matters a lot. I ended up getting all of mine above the clouds, and if you want to save time, I’d recommend doing the same.

What I did was combine this with the Windkeeper quest, so I was basically progressing two things at once. If you do that, it feels way less grindy.

Unlocking the Castbound Rod

Once you’re done with that part, you’ll eventually unlock the Castbound Rod, but there’s a catch.

When you first get it, it’s actually restricted. You’ll notice something like a minus percentage on it, and it’s not at full power yet.

At this point, you might be confused because it feels like you’re missing something, and yeah, you are.

To fully unlock it, you need to meet a requirement involving rods in your inventory. You need around 15 rods, and once you meet that condition, the restriction gets lifted.

After that, the rod is fully usable, and that’s when things start getting interesting.

Finding the Shimmer (Aether Area)

Now this part had me running around for a bit, so I’ll just explain it clearly.

You need to go to Vertigo, and from there, look for a cave area. The key thing you’re looking for is a crack in the wall.

Once you find that crack and go inside, you’ll come across a purple pool. That place is called Aether, and that’s where everything connects.

It’s kind of hidden, so don’t be surprised if it takes a few tries to find it.

Castbound Rod Stats

Once I actually equipped it and checked the stats, I was kind of surprised how strong it is.

  • Infinite Lure Speed
  • 390% Luck
  • 0.14 Control
  • 32% Resilience
  • Infinite KG

These are honestly some of the best stats I’ve seen in a while. You can feel it immediately when you start fishing.

Hidden Passive Explained

Now this is where the rod really stands out.

At first, it doesn’t look like it has anything special, but it actually has a hidden passive. And once you notice it, it completely changes how the rod feels.

Every time you’re catching fish, the rod starts doing these slash attacks automatically. It’s not just visual either, it actually affects your catches.

It feels very similar to Rod of the Deeps, but way more aggressive.

Mutations and What It Actually Does

This part is a bit confusing at first, so I’ll just explain what I noticed while testing it.

The rod itself doesn’t seem to give mutations directly when you’re just fishing normally.

Instead, the mutations come from the passive.

So when the passive activates, that’s when you start getting things like:

  • Cosmos
  • Fury
  • Nebula

It’s like the rod is picking things up for you through the passive rather than the normal fishing mechanic.

And yeah, it really does feel like every catch is triggering something extra in the background.

Performance in Action

When I tested it on stronger targets like Megalodon, the first thing I noticed was how crazy the control feels.

The bar is huge, and you can manage catches way easier than usual.

The slashes also kick in constantly, which makes the whole process faster and more active.

The only weird thing is that towards the end of a catch, it feels like the progress slows down a bit, even though the control bar is still being affected.

It’s not a huge issue, but you’ll notice it.

Best Way to Use It

From what I tested, you’ll want to focus on boosting the passive rather than just raw fishing.

Using things like Hercule works really well with this rod since it helps take advantage of the control and passive interactions.

Between slashes and buffs, you can get some really strong results.

Honestly, this rod is just fun to use.

The visuals are clean, the passive is unique, and once you understand how the mutations actually work, it becomes really strong.

It doesn’t feel like a normal rod at all, which is probably why it stands out so much.

If you’re already grinding this update, I’d definitely say go for it. It’s one of those rods that just feels different the moment you start using it.
