How to Get Projection Sorcery in Kaizen – Naoya Zenin Build

Trying to become Naoya Zenin in Kaizen is actually a pretty fun little progression project. You’re not just rolling one technique and calling it a day—you can grab the Zenin Clan, unlock Projection Sorcery, grind out its full moveset, and then head into the Zenin Estate Ruins to fight Naoya himself.

And honestly, Projection Sorcery is the part that makes the whole thing worth doing.

The technique is ridiculously fast, has some great-looking attacks, and eventually gives you access to Time Cell Moon Palace. You’ll need to put some work into mastery before everything is available, though, so don’t expect to roll the technique and immediately have the complete Naoya moveset.

Here’s how the entire process works.

If you’re trying to make a proper Naoya build rather than simply getting his Cursed Technique, there are a few things you’ll want to do:

• Customize your character to resemble Naoya.

• Obtain the Zenin Clan.

• Get Projection Sorcery.

• Level Projection Sorcery mastery.

• Unlock all five Projection Sorcery abilities.

• Enter the Zenin Estate Ruins Raid.

• Defeat Naoya Zenin.

• Farm the raid for his clothing and related rewards.

The character customization is obviously optional. You don’t need to look like Naoya for Projection Sorcery to work.

The Zenin Clan and Projection Sorcery are the important parts of the actual build.

Start with your clan rolls and look for Zenin.

This part can come down to RNG. If Zenin doesn’t appear immediately, you’ll have to continue spinning through clans until you finally land it.

The clan system also has a Mythic pity counter, so keep an eye on that while you’re rolling. In the footage used for this guide, the pity counter showed a maximum of 60, although getting a Mythic doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll receive Zenin specifically.

Other clans can appear along the way, including options such as Kashimo, Todo, Uro, Inumaki, Hoshi, and others.

So prepare yourself for some spinning.

If you already own Zenin, there’s obviously no reason to reroll it just for this build. Keep it and move straight on to Projection Sorcery.

Once you have the character setup you want, your next goal is Projection Sorcery.

Projection Sorcery is Naoya’s Cursed Technique and comes with five abilities in total.

Getting the technique itself is only the beginning because its complete moveset isn’t available immediately. You’ll have to build up Projection Sorcery Mastery to unlock everything.

The full mastery requirement shown for the technique is:

275 Mastery

That number is worth remembering because your final ability is locked behind the mastery grind.

Fortunately, mastery doesn’t seem particularly awful to level if you’re consistently killing enemies.

The straightforward method is to use Projection Sorcery while defeating NPCs and progressing through combat.

Even killing regular enemies can provide a decent chunk of mastery. During testing, one NPC kill awarded around 48 mastery, allowing several Projection Sorcery abilities to become available surprisingly quickly.

You don’t necessarily have to spend hours hitting one training target.

Find enemies you can defeat comfortably, cycle through your abilities, kill them, and keep moving.

If your build is already strong enough to clear NPCs quickly, reaching the required mastery should be considerably easier.

There is one thing worth checking before you start grinding, though.

This is an easy problem to run into.

If you’re trying to activate Projection Sorcery and seeing a low Cursed Energy warning, check your Binding Vows.

In particular, look for:

Heavenly Restriction

Having Heavenly Restriction equipped can interfere with the Cursed Energy you need for Projection Sorcery.

Go into your Binding Vows menu and unequip Heavenly Restriction if it’s preventing you from properly using your technique.

After removing it, you should have a much easier time testing and leveling your Projection Sorcery abilities.

It’s a small detail, but it can save you from wondering why the technique you just spent time obtaining suddenly refuses to work.

Projection Sorcery currently has five moves to unlock.

The moves shown are:

You’ll gradually gain access to these as your mastery increases, with the complete technique requiring 275 Mastery.

And this is where Projection Sorcery starts becoming much more interesting than it initially looks.

Frame Grasp is the first Projection Sorcery move you’ll have available.

It’s your introduction to how the technique plays and gives you something useful to work with while grinding those early mastery levels.

Don’t judge the entire technique from this first move, though.

Projection Sorcery becomes dramatically flashier once Frame Breaker, Heaven Splitter, and Speed Rend enter the rotation.

Use Frame Grasp against NPCs while working toward the next mastery unlocks rather than waiting until you’ve unlocked everything before actually playing with the technique.

Frame Breaker is where the moveset starts feeling much more aggressive.

It fits naturally into your offensive rotation and can be used alongside your basic attacks and other Projection Sorcery abilities to keep pressure on enemies.

When you’re grinding regular NPCs, you can use Frame Breaker to help quickly finish targets and move directly onto the next enemy.

It also comes in handy during the Zenin Estate Ruins Raid because you’ll encounter groups of Zenin enemies before reaching Naoya.

Next comes Heaven Splitter, another offensive ability that adds more variety to the technique.

By the time you have Frame Grasp, Frame Breaker, and Heaven Splitter available together, Projection Sorcery starts feeling like a complete combat kit rather than something you’re simply leveling for the final move.

The animations can get pretty wild when several abilities are being chained together, especially against larger targets.

Speed Rend is probably one of the abilities that will sell you on Projection Sorcery if you’re specifically trying to recreate Naoya’s fighting style.

It’s fast, aggressive, and fits the whole identity of the technique.

Against Naoya himself, Speed Rend can deal substantial damage and help push him through his fight phases surprisingly quickly.

Once you’ve unlocked it, I’d definitely work it into your regular rotation rather than saving it exclusively for bosses.

The final major reward from leveling Projection Sorcery is Time Cell Moon Palace.

Yep, you get Naoya’s Domain.

You’ll need to continue leveling Projection Sorcery until you’ve reached the mastery requirement necessary for the complete moveset.

Once available, Time Cell Moon Palace becomes the centerpiece of the build.

Activating it creates the Domain around you and the target, while your character gains an extremely fast style of movement inside.

More importantly, the damage potential is huge.

During a fight against Naoya, activating Time Cell Moon Palace after his own Domain ended was enough to essentially one-shot what remained of his health.

So if you’re wondering whether grinding Projection Sorcery all the way is worthwhile, the Domain gives you a pretty convincing reason.

Once you’ve finished unlocking your Projection Sorcery moves, you can complete the Naoya setup by fighting the man himself.

Open the Raids menu and look for:

Zenin Estate Ruins

This is the raid associated with Naoya and the Zenin family.

You can select your desired difficulty before entering. If you’re mainly trying to learn the raid or farm Naoya’s cosmetics, starting on Easy is perfectly reasonable.

You’re not immediately thrown into the Naoya boss fight, though.

There are several enemies to deal with first.

The opening section puts you against Zenin members.

These enemies shouldn’t cause too much trouble if you’ve already leveled Projection Sorcery. This is also a nice opportunity to get comfortable chaining Frame Breaker, Heaven Splitter, Speed Rend, and your other attacks before reaching the bosses.

Clear the enemies and continue progressing through the estate.

Eventually you’ll encounter Jinichi Zenin.

Take him down and continue deeper into the raid.

After that, you’ll eventually reach the main attraction:

Naoya Zenin.

Naoya is where the raid becomes much more interesting.

He’s fast—as you’d expect—and can become much more aggressive as the battle progresses.

The boss was shown with approximately:

10,000 HP

Projection Sorcery itself works extremely well against him. Speed Rend and your other offensive abilities can burn through his health quickly, especially if you’ve already unlocked the complete moveset.

Don’t dump absolutely everything immediately if you want to use your Domain, though.

Naoya has multiple stages to his encounter, and he can activate his own Domain.

That’s when things can get messy.

Naoya becomes much more dangerous once his Domain comes out.

Trying to activate Time Cell Moon Palace while he’s constantly attacking can be difficult because he can keep interrupting or pressuring you.

Instead of panicking and burning everything, focus on surviving.

Move around, avoid as much damage as possible, and stall until Naoya’s Domain ends.

Then it’s your turn.

Activate Time Cell Moon Palace once you’re able to safely use it and immediately start pressuring him.

The Domain’s damage is extremely strong against Naoya. In the showcased run, it wiped out his remaining health almost immediately.

There’s something especially satisfying about beating Naoya with his own technique and Domain.

Naoya’s clothing is tied to the Zenin Estate Ruins Raid.

You can see his clothing among the raid’s available rewards before entering.

However, defeating Naoya does not guarantee that you’ll immediately receive every item you’re looking for.

The first successful clear in the showcased run didn’t provide the desired additional drops, meaning you’ll likely need to farm the raid multiple times depending on your luck.

If cosmetics are your main goal, run the raid on a difficulty you can clear consistently rather than choosing something harder that slows down every attempt.

A quick Easy clear repeated several times can be much more practical than struggling through higher difficulty runs.

If you want the closest thing to a complete Naoya character, I’d approach it in this order:

Zenin Clan → Projection Sorcery → 275 Mastery → Time Cell Moon Palace → Zenin Estate Ruins → Naoya Clothing

There’s no reason to rush into the raid before leveling Projection Sorcery.

You can technically fight Naoya earlier, but having the complete technique makes the battle both easier and much more fun. More importantly, you’ll actually be playing the character the build is supposed to imitate.

Once Time Cell Moon Palace is unlocked, take it into the Zenin Estate Ruins and see what it can do against Naoya.

Spoiler: quite a lot.

From the current moveset, Projection Sorcery looks absolutely worth trying, particularly if you prefer fast and aggressive techniques.

The standout features are the mobility, flashy attack animations, Speed Rend, and obviously Time Cell Moon Palace.

It also doesn’t feel like one of those techniques where the early abilities are completely useless while you’re waiting for the final unlock. Frame Grasp, Frame Breaker, Heaven Splitter, and Speed Rend give you plenty to play with while working toward the Domain.

The main hurdle is simply getting the technique and grinding its mastery.

Once that’s done, you have one of the more entertaining movesets to use against bosses.

Projection Sorcery has five moves in the current Kaizen update.

The complete Projection Sorcery moveset requires you to work toward 275 Mastery.

The Domain is Time Cell Moon Palace, based on Naoya Zenin’s Domain Expansion.

If you’re getting a low Cursed Energy warning, check whether you have Heavenly Restriction equipped under Binding Vows. Unequipping it can restore the Cursed Energy needed to properly use the technique.

Naoya is fought in the Zenin Estate Ruins Raid.

Naoya was shown with a maximum of approximately 10,000 HP during the raid encounter.

Yes. Naoya can activate his Domain during the boss fight, making the later part of the encounter considerably more chaotic.

Farm the Zenin Estate Ruins Raid and defeat Naoya. His clothing appears among the raid rewards, but you may need multiple clears to obtain the pieces you want.

Projection Sorcery ended up being the highlight of the whole Naoya build for me. The first couple of moves are already fun to mess around with, but once Speed Rend and Time Cell Moon Palace enter the picture, the technique starts feeling properly ridiculous.

If you’re going for the full experience, don’t stop after rolling Projection Sorcery.

Grab Zenin, push the technique toward 275 Mastery, unlock Time Cell Moon Palace, and then take the finished build into Zenin Estate Ruins. Defeating Naoya with Projection Sorcery is already fun, but dropping his own Domain on him makes the grind feel a lot more worthwhile.

After that, all that’s left is farming his clothing until RNG finally decides to cooperate.
