Roblox The Portal Best Classes Tier List

Choosing the right class in The Portal can make a surprisingly big difference, especially once you start getting into harder quests and enemies. Some classes are built around raw damage, some are much harder to kill, and others really start shining when you’re playing with a group.
I’ve gone through the current classes and ranked them based on damage, survivability, usefulness, and overall progression. Every class can get through the game’s content, so this isn’t about saying one class is completely useless. It’s more about which ones make your life easier depending on how you like to play.
Here’s the current ranking, along with the stats and races I’d pair with each class.

B Tier – Cleric
Starting at the bottom of the current ranking is Cleric.
Don’t take that as meaning Cleric is a bad class. It isn’t. The problem is that its biggest strengths are much more noticeable when you’re actually playing with other people.
Cleric focuses heavily on healing, buffs, and supporting the rest of the party. It also has strong magic defense, which gives it some nice survivability in the right situations.
The trade-off is damage.
If you’re playing completely solo, Cleric can feel noticeably slower because you’re giving up offensive power for support abilities that aren’t nearly as valuable when there’s nobody else around to heal.

For a Cleric build, I’d prioritize Wisdom and Intelligence, followed by Vitality for some additional survivability.
For the race, Elf is the natural choice. Its Intelligence and Wisdom bonuses complement what Cleric is trying to do, making the class more effective at its primary role.
So, if you mostly play with friends or guild members, don’t let the B-tier placement put you off. A good Cleric can be extremely valuable in a group.
Best race: Elf Main stats: Wisdom, Intelligence Secondary stat: Vitality Best for: Group support and healing
A Tier – Defender
Moving into A tier, we’ve got Defender.

If you’re the type of player who would rather survive a fight than kill everything five seconds faster, Defender is going to feel really good.
The class sacrifices some offensive power in exchange for a huge health pool and extremely strong physical defense. Basically, you’re the person standing at the front while everyone else does their thing behind you.
This makes Defender particularly forgiving for newer players. If you make a positioning mistake or take a few unnecessary hits, you’ve got considerably more room to recover.
The downside is pretty obvious: fights can take longer because you’re not putting out the same damage as more offensive classes.
For stats, focus on Vitality and Strength, with Wisdom as another useful investment.
The best race pairing is Corrupted Human, thanks to its Strength and Vitality bonuses. Those stats fit Defender almost perfectly.

Best race: Corrupted Human Main stats: Vitality, Strength Secondary stat: Wisdom Best for: Tanking, survivability, and beginner-friendly progression
A Tier – Warrior
Also sitting comfortably in A tier is Warrior.
Warrior is probably one of the easiest classes to recommend to someone who just wants to jump into the game and start fighting without worrying about complicated mechanics.
You’ve got strong melee damage, balanced defenses, and reliable single-target attacks. It doesn’t have the ridiculous magical damage potential of Enchanter, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Warrior is straightforward.

You get close, hit things, and keep moving.
That simplicity makes it particularly good for normal questing, where you don’t necessarily need fancy positioning or complicated ability management.
For your stats, I’d prioritize Strength and Dexterity, then put points into Vitality and Agility as secondary choices.
Human is the recommended race here because its balanced bonuses work nicely with Warrior’s overall playstyle.
If you’re a beginner and want a class that lets you learn the game without constantly worrying about being too fragile, Warrior is probably the safest damage-focused choice.
Best race: Human Main stats: Strength, Dexterity Secondary stats: Vitality, Agility Best for: Beginners, melee damage, and solo progression

S Tier – Enchanter
And now we get to the class sitting at the top of the list: Enchanter.
Right now, Enchanter is the strongest overall option because it combines huge magical damage, ranged attacks, area-of-effect abilities, and crowd control.
The biggest advantage is that you don’t have to stand directly next to enemies to destroy them.
You can attack from a distance, hit groups of enemies with spells, and control encounters before they become a problem.
That makes Enchanter particularly strong for solo progression and questing. Instead of fighting enemies one at a time, you can often clear groups much more efficiently.

There is, however, one major catch.
Enchanter is fragile.
Its HP and physical defense aren’t particularly impressive, so if enemies get into melee range and you aren’t paying attention, you can go from dominating a fight to getting knocked out surprisingly quickly.
That’s why positioning matters so much with this class.
For stats, focus on Intelligence and Dexterity, then put some points into Vitality so you’re not quite as vulnerable.
For the race, High Elf is the recommended choice because its Intelligence and Wisdom bonuses fit a magic-focused build extremely well.
Best race: High Elf Main stats: Intelligence, Dexterity Secondary stat: Vitality Best for: Solo play, AoE damage, ranged combat, and late-game progression
Which Class Is Best for Solo Players?
If you’re mostly playing The Portal by yourself, I’d narrow the choices down to Enchanter and Warrior.
Enchanter is the better option if you want maximum damage and fast clearing. Its ranged attacks and AoE spells make dealing with groups of enemies much easier.
Warrior is the safer alternative.
You won’t have the same magical destruction as Enchanter, but you’re much more forgiving if you make mistakes or get surrounded.
So I’d look at it like this:
Want maximum damage? Go Enchanter.
Want reliable melee combat? Go Warrior.
Which Class Is Best for Groups?
This is where the lower-ranked classes become much more interesting.
A well-balanced group can make excellent use of all three major roles.
Defender can stand at the front and absorb enemy attacks.
Cleric can keep everyone alive and provide support.
Enchanter can stay at range and pump out magical damage.
That combination gives your team a strong mix of damage, healing, crowd control, and survivability.
So while Cleric isn’t my favorite choice for solo progression, I’d absolutely want one around when tackling difficult group encounters.
Best Race and Class Combinations
If you just want the combinations without reading through every class explanation, these are the pairings I’d recommend:
• Cleric + Elf — Best for healing and support
• Defender + Corrupted Human — Best for durability and tanking
• Warrior + Human — Best for balanced melee combat
• Enchanter + High Elf — Best for magical damage and ranged progression
Which Class Should You Pick?
At the end of the day, the “best” class depends on what you actually enjoy doing.
If you want the strongest overall class, I’d go with Enchanter. The combination of ranged damage, AoE spells, crowd control, and late-game scaling makes it incredibly effective.
If you’re new to the game and don’t want to be too fragile, Warrior is probably the better starting point.
If surviving is your biggest priority, Defender gives you plenty of room to make mistakes.
And if you’re usually playing with friends, Cleric becomes far more valuable than its B-tier ranking might suggest.
For a quick summary, my current ranking is:
S Tier: Enchanter A Tier: Defender, Warrior B Tier: Cleric
Of course, class balance can change with future updates, so don’t feel like you have to constantly switch classes just because a tier list changes. The best class is ultimately the one that fits the way you actually like playing The Portal.
