The newest Sailor Piece update introduced a brand-new race evolution system that allows certain mythical races to evolve into secret versions. Since the update released, many players have been confused about where to start, which races can evolve, and how the NPC quest system actually works.
The game itself does not explain the process very clearly, so a lot of players end up wandering around Sea 2 without knowing where to go. If you are trying to unlock one of the new secret races, this guide will explain everything in a much simpler way so you can start progressing immediately.
Not Every Race Can Evolve
The first thing you need to understand is that only specific races currently have secret evolutions available.
Right now, the two confirmed races are:
- Angel
- Wraith
If you already own one of these mythical races, you can begin the evolution process. Other races may receive secret upgrades later, but at the moment these are the only confirmed options in the update.
You Must Unlock Sea 2 First
Before you can even begin evolving your race, you need access to Sea 2.
This is mandatory because all of the important NPCs, bosses, and quests connected to race evolution are located there. Players still stuck in Sea 1 will not be able to start the process yet.
If you are underleveled or have not completed the required progression to reach Sea 2, focus on that first before worrying about secret races.
Secret Race NPC Locations
Once you are inside Sea 2, you need to locate the evolution NPC tied to your race.

Blue Planet Island
One of the race evolution NPCs can be found here. This island is connected to one of the newer secret race questlines introduced in the update.
Slayer Island
Another evolution NPC appears on Slayer Island near a group of five NPC enemies that players can fight nearby.
Depending on your race, you will need to speak to a different NPC to begin the correct evolution questline.
Every Race Has Different Requirements
One important thing many players misunderstand is that the evolution quests are not the same for every race.
Each race has its own unique progression path.
For example:
- Angel evolves into Archangel
- Wraith evolves into Reaper
Both evolutions require completely different objectives, materials, and boss drops.

These Questlines Are Designed for Endgame Players
Do not expect the secret race system to be easy.
The new evolution quests are clearly balanced around stronger Sea 2 players, especially those with:

If you are just beginning, this is the best general progression route:
- Unlock Sea 2
- Get Angel or Wraith race
- Locate the correct NPC
- Read your race-specific questline carefully
- Prepare your build and gear
- Farm bosses and required materials
- Finish all trials and objectives
- Return to the NPC for the evolution
Following this order makes the entire system much easier to understand.
The new secret race system is one of the biggest progression features added to Sailor Piece so far. While the quests can feel overwhelming at first, they become much easier once you understand where the NPCs are located and which races can actually evolve.
Right now, Archangel and Reaper are the main secret race evolutions players are chasing, and both require a serious amount of grinding and preparation.
