Terror Realm is an asymmetric multiplayer horror game similar to Dead by Daylight and Forsaken. One side plays as Convicts (survivors) trying to stay alive, while the other side plays as Anomalies (killers) hunting them down.
During the public test, the game features 4 Convicts and 3 Anomalies, each with very different abilities. The matches are chaotic, ability-heavy, and often feel more like a fast arcade chase than a slow horror game.
If you’re jumping in during the playtest and have no clue what’s happening on screen, this guide explains every character, how abilities work, and what beginners should focus on.
Terror Realm Beginner Guide Wiki – Convicts, Anomalies, Codes
A typical match consists of:
- 4 Convicts (Survivors)
- 1 Anomaly (Killer)
Convicts try to survive while supporting teammates with abilities like healing, stunning, or slowing the killer. Unlike some horror games, survivors in Terror Realm can fight back and control space with traps, rockets, and crowd control.
The Anomaly’s job is simple:
hunt, chase, and eliminate all convicts before time runs out.
However, abilities from survivors can constantly interrupt the killer with stuns, knockbacks, or traps, which makes positioning and timing extremely important.
Matches become extremely chaotic once multiple abilities start overlapping.
Convicts (Survivors)
Rocketeer
Rocketeer is easily one of the most aggressive survivor characters in the game.
Key abilities include:
- Rocket Launcher – Fires explosive rockets that stun or damage the killer.
- Bomb Trap – Places a trap on the ground that detonates when triggered.
Rocketeer can completely disrupt the killer if used correctly. Landing rockets during a chase can repeatedly stun the Anomaly, giving teammates time to escape or heal.
The downside is positioning. Rockets require decent aim, and placing traps carelessly often wastes them.
Beginner Tip
Always drop traps in tight areas, corners, or near loops, not in open space. Killers rarely walk directly into traps unless you force them.
Hondo
Hondo is a mobility-based support character focused on disruption.
Abilities include:
- Rush – A fast movement ability used to reposition.
- Push Attack – Knocks teammates or enemies away.
Hondo can actually push teammates out of danger, which is surprisingly useful when someone is about to get hit.
He can also briefly interrupt killers during chase, buying small windows for escape.
Hondo feels a little awkward at first because the abilities are situational, but once mastered he becomes extremely useful in team fights.
The Community
The Community is a buff and control specialist.
This character revolves around a rating meter that increases when you:
- Stay in chase
- Use abilities
- Help teammates
- Collect items
- Stay near injured allies
Higher rating provides:
- Lower cooldowns
- Increased max health
Abilities include:
- Megaphone Alert – Sends sound waves that slow the killer.
- Taunt Buff – Gives nearby teammates a speed boost.
- Cutout Barrier – Places a cardboard cutout obstacle that blocks movement.
This character is much more technical than the others. If you play aggressively and stay active, the rating system constantly rewards you with stronger stats.
It’s basically a snowball support character.
Bloom
Bloom is the healer of the team, but her kit has a bit more depth than just restoring health.
Abilities include:
- Healing Blossom – Restores health to teammates.
- Ivy Whip – Can slow or damage the killer.
- Energy Meter System – Healing drains energy while attacking regenerates it.
This creates a cycle where Bloom must balance healing and combat support.
If played correctly, Bloom can keep the entire team alive through long chases.
However, killers will often target Bloom first because removing the healer makes the match much easier.
Anomalies (Killers)
Draco Blocker
Draco Blocker is arguably the strongest killer during the test.
Core mechanics include:
- Blood Rage Meter
- Tracking abilities
- Draconic transformation
Abilities allow him to:
- Detect survivors through noise and blood trails
- Charge through enemies
- Activate a dragon-like rage mode that increases power and aggression
The dragon transformation is one of the most visually insane abilities in the game. Once activated, Draco becomes extremely dangerous and can wipe survivors quickly.
The challenge is controlling the rage abilities properly because some are difficult to steer.
Bloody Mary
Bloody Mary is a target-focused hunter.
At the start of the match, one convict becomes her Grudge Target.
This target receives:
- Increased damage from Mary
- Special attention from her abilities
Key skills include:
- Pursuit Sprint – High-speed chase mode
- Fracture Strike – A push attack that can switch your grudge target
- Scream Ability – Slows and disrupts nearby survivors
Mary excels at single-target pressure, but she struggles against groups that constantly stun her.
Compared to Draco, she requires more careful ability usage.
Guest 666
Guest 666 is the most complex anomaly in the game.
His kit revolves around possession and traps.
Abilities include:
- Sinborn Status Effect – Marks survivors with a cursed state.
- Possession Mechanic – If a marked survivor dies, they become possessed.
- Watchful Eye – Places surveillance zones revealing survivors.
- Prosecution Mode – Allows flight and aggressive pursuit.
Guest 666 can control the battlefield with traps and surveillance, making him excellent for area control and ambushes.
However, he also feels the most mechanically demanding.
New players may struggle because multiple abilities overlap and require precise timing.
Tips for Playing Convicts
Stick together
Killers struggle when multiple survivors stun or pressure them at once.
Protect the healer
Bloom is extremely important for long matches. Losing her early makes survival much harder.
Chain abilities
A rocket stun into a megaphone slow into a push ability can lock a killer down for several seconds.
This is how teams dominate.
Use obstacles
Terror Realm maps include lots of corners and structures. Use them to break line of sight during chases.
Tips for Playing Anomalies
Target support characters
Always try to eliminate Bloom first. Removing healing weakens the entire team.
Watch for traps
Rocketeer traps are easy to miss during a chase. Check corners before running through them.
Manage ability cooldowns
Using everything at once often leaves you defenseless for several seconds.
Spacing abilities correctly is the difference between winning and getting stun-locked.
Predict survivor movement
Good players will try to loop around obstacles. Instead of chasing directly behind them, cut them off.
Even in its early test state, Terror Realm feels chaotic in the best way possible. Instead of pure horror stealth, the game leans into ability-driven combat, fast chases, and team coordination.
Some characters like Rocketeer and Draco Blocker currently feel a bit overtuned, but the core gameplay loop is already very fun.
Matches often turn into absolute chaos once everyone starts throwing abilities, traps, heals, and stuns at the same time — and that’s honestly part of the charm.
If the developers keep polishing balance and expanding the roster, Terror Realm could easily become one of the more unique asymmetric games out there.
