The Strongest Battlegrounds Cosmic Garou Gamma Ray Guide
Published 31 Aug 2026, 5:57 am · 6 min read
The Strongest Battlegrounds just received a small update without much warning, adding a new ultimate move for Cosmic Garou and a new move for Zombie Man. The update wasn’t announced with the usual big ping, so it was a bit unexpected, but there are still some interesting things to check out.
The biggest addition is Gamma Ray Burst for Cosmic Garou. Zombie Man also received Phantom Frenzy, giving him another option to use during his ultimate.
In this guide, I’ll go over both new moves, explain how to get Cosmic Garou, and share what I found while trying to use Zombie Man’s new move in ranked matches.

The Strongest Battlegrounds Cosmic Garou Gamma Ray Burst and Zombie Man Ultimate Move
Before checking out the new Gamma Ray Burst move, here’s a quick refresher on how to get Cosmic Garou in The Strongest Battlegrounds.
You first need to land Hunter’s Mark on another player. Once you successfully land it, use the third ability immediately afterward.
That’s essentially the process for transforming into Cosmic Garou.
Once you’re in the Cosmic Garou form, you’ll have access to the new Gamma Ray Burst move.
Cosmic Garou Gamma Ray Burst
The main addition in this update is Gamma Ray Burst, a new ultimate move for Cosmic Garou.
After activating it, Cosmic Garou starts floating before launching the attack. What I immediately noticed is that you can actually aim the move, which makes it much more interesting than I initially expected.
You aren’t restricted to simply attacking whatever happens to be directly in front of you. You can aim the attack around the map, giving you quite a bit of control over where it lands.
Gamma Ray Burst Range
The range on Gamma Ray Burst is probably one of my favorite things about the move.
You can launch it across a huge portion of the map, which makes it possible to catch players from surprisingly far away.

I tried using it a few times, and the attack looked even better once I started experimenting with the aiming.
Another interesting detail is that the aiming works somewhat around you rather than being completely dependent on where your character is facing. Because of that, you may still be able to hit someone even when you aren’t directly looking at them.
Gamma Ray Burst Damage
I also tested Gamma Ray Burst on the training dummies to get a better idea of how it performs.
The attack sends the dummy flying, and the overall impact feels pretty strong.
Considering the range and the fact that you can aim it, I think this is a really fun addition to Cosmic Garou. It’s not just another basic attack that you press and forget about; you actually have some control over where you’re sending it.

The animation also looks great. Cosmic Garou’s transformation has always been one of the coolest-looking parts of the character, and Gamma Ray Burst fits that style really well.
Zombie Man Phantom Frenzy
The second major addition in the update is for Zombie Man.
The new move is called Phantom Frenzy, and it is part of his ultimate.
From what I could tell while testing it, Phantom Frenzy has both a normal activation and a hold variant, giving you a little more control over how you use the attack.
How Phantom Frenzy Works
When you activate Phantom Frenzy, Zombie Man summons several clones that attack the opponent.
The hold version is particularly interesting because you can keep the move going and then land an additional attack at the end.
If you successfully hit the ending portion, Zombie Man punches the opponent away and deals additional damage.
Because of that, I would definitely try to make sure you land the final hit whenever possible. There’s really no reason to let that extra damage go to waste.
At the moment, though, I didn’t find a separate finisher for Phantom Frenzy.
Trying Zombie Man in Ranked
After checking out the new move in training, I wanted to see whether I could actually use Phantom Frenzy in a real ranked match.
It had been a while since I played The Strongest Battlegrounds, so jumping back into ranked after a long break wasn’t exactly the easiest thing.
My main goal was simple: build up my ultimate and finally use the new move on an actual player.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go exactly according to plan.
First Ranked Match
The first match started reasonably well, although I was definitely a little rusty.

I was trying to build my ultimate while dealing with the opponent, but I had to be careful because some characters can deal ridiculous damage at close range.
I eventually managed to get the first stock, which helped turn the match around.
At that point, I was mainly focused on getting my ultimate ready so I could finally test Phantom Frenzy in an actual fight.
Unfortunately, the match ended before I could properly use it.
So, after all that, I still hadn’t gotten the chance to show what the new move could do against a real opponent.
Zombie Man Wall Combos
In another match, I started experimenting more with Zombie Man’s combos.
One thing I noticed is that his wall combos can be pretty strong.
I messed up a few of the angles myself, mostly because I hadn’t played the game in a while, but when the combo works, Zombie Man can put together some serious pressure.
His point-blank attacks are also still extremely satisfying to land.
The problem was that the ranked lobby itself started getting weird.
Strange Ranked Lobby Issues
At one point, the opponent looked like they were literally floating.
Then there were moments where I couldn’t even tell whether they were lagging or if something else was going on.
The character appeared to be partially stuck in the ground, and the entire match became incredibly strange.
I’ve noticed that this kind of thing seems to happen to me more often when I’m recording. It feels like the ranked lobbies somehow become cursed the moment I start trying to make a video.
Because of the strange connection and movement issues, I wasn’t able to properly test the ultimate against the opponent.
I also wanted to see whether you could use Zombie Man’s ultimate normally within the ranked system, but the match was so chaotic that it was difficult to get a proper answer.
Is the New Update Worth Checking Out?
This is a pretty small update, so there isn’t a huge amount of new content to go through.
The two main additions are:
• Gamma Ray Burst for Cosmic Garou
• Phantom Frenzy for Zombie Man
There were also some fixes, including changes related to the Elo and ranked systems, and the developers mentioned removing some moves because they couldn’t identify what was causing a game-breaking bug.
I wasn’t able to determine exactly which moves were removed, so if you know what was taken out, that’s something worth sharing with other players.
Final Thoughts
Even though this isn’t a massive update, I think the new moves are still pretty fun.
Gamma Ray Burst is easily the highlight for me. The ability to aim it over a huge distance makes it feel much more interesting, and watching the attack send the dummy flying is just satisfying.
Phantom Frenzy is also a cool addition to Zombie Man, especially because of the hold variant and the extra hit you can land at the end.
The main problem is that I didn’t get a proper opportunity to land Phantom Frenzy in ranked. The matches I played were incredibly strange, with laggy or broken-looking players making it difficult to properly test the move.
Still, if you play The Strongest Battlegrounds, both of these moves are worth checking out for yourself. Cosmic Garou in particular feels even more fun now that Gamma Ray Burst gives him another powerful long-range option.
