The Veil Disease Era Guide – Complete Progression Stages

Published 8 Sept 2026, 7:11 am · 9 min read

The Disease Era is one of the first major progression stages we go through in The Veil. At the beginning, things are fairly simple, with basic quests asking us to defeat enemies and explore different locations. However, the progression gradually becomes much more challenging as we unlock new areas, collect important items, and face stronger bosses.

In this post, I will explain everything you need to know about completing the Disease Era in The Veil. We will go through the progression step by step, including the early quests, weapon enchanting, important locations, bosses, Fire Essence farming, and the final battle you need to complete before moving forward.

If you are currently stuck somewhere in the Disease Era or simply want to know what comes next, this guide should help you prepare for the journey. I recommend taking your time with each area because farming equipment and collecting useful items along the way can make the later parts of the progression much easier.

The Veil Disease Era Guide – Complete Progression Stages

Disease Era is the first major era players progress through in The Veil. This part of the game introduces us to many important mechanics, including quests, enemy farming, weapon upgrades, enchanting, boss encounters, special drops, and exploration.

We begin with relatively straightforward objectives, but the game slowly sends us into more dangerous areas. As we continue, we need to defeat different enemies, collect quest items, and take down bosses before the next part of the progression becomes available.

There are also some optional bosses and encounters that you may find while exploring. These can provide useful equipment and other rewards, so it is often worth checking them out even if they are not immediately required for your main quest.

One thing I recommend remembering is that nighttime can be useful for farming because more enemies may appear. However, exploring outside at night also creates additional problems with Sanity, so you need to be careful not to spend too long farming without paying attention to your character’s condition.

How to Complete the Disease Era in The Veil

Complete the Early Quests

The first thing we need to do is follow the main questline and complete the early objectives. One of the first larger tasks requires you to defeat around 30 mobs.

This part should be fairly manageable, especially if you are playing with friends. While completing the requirement, try to collect Silver and any useful equipment dropped by enemies.

I would not recommend rushing through these early quests without picking up loot. Even small equipment upgrades can help us later when the bosses become stronger and start dealing much more damage.

Enchant Your Weapon

As we continue through the progression, we eventually reach a quest that requires us to enchant a weapon using a gem.

The enchantment originally cost around 200 Silver, although the cost was later reduced to 100 Silver. Either way, it is a good idea to keep some Silver available instead of spending everything you earn immediately.

The enchantment you receive can vary depending on the available system and gem. Poison, for example, can be one of the possible effects applied to a weapon.

This is an important progression step because improving your weapon early can make the upcoming boss encounters much easier.

Defeat the Early Bosses

After enchanting your weapon, the Disease Era progression starts sending you toward different boss fights.

Some of these early encounters are not extremely difficult, but we still need to pay attention to their attacks. If you are having trouble fighting bosses at close range, ranged weapons can be very useful because they allow you to deal damage while staying away from dangerous attacks.

You may also encounter the Puppeteer during nighttime exploration. This enemy is considerably stronger than some of the earlier bosses, but defeating it can reward you with valuable loot, including Elite equipment.

If you find the Puppeteer while you are still undergeared, there is no shame in avoiding the fight and coming back later with better equipment.

Continue Through Runner’s Camp and Westfall

The next part of the journey takes us through locations such as Runner’s Camp and eventually Westfall.

During this section, you will encounter additional enemies and quest objectives. Make sure to check chests and explore nearby areas instead of only following the quest marker.

We can sometimes find better weapons, armor, and useful materials while exploring, and these upgrades may save us a lot of trouble later.

Westfall can also become dangerous because of groups of enemies and possible encounters with other players. If your health is already low, do not rush blindly into another fight. Taking a moment to recover can prevent you from losing progress unnecessarily.

Defeat the Highling Titan

The Highling Titan is another important boss you may encounter during the Disease Era progression.

This boss can drop useful items connected to your journey, so it is worth defeating when you have the opportunity. The fight becomes much easier when several players work together and attack the boss at the same time.

However, keep in mind that boss rewards are not always guaranteed. Even if you participate in the fight, you may not immediately receive the item you want.

After defeating the boss, check your inventory and Bestiary to keep track of your discoveries and any new items you collected.

Explore Silverhold

Continue your journey toward Silverhold and spend some time exploring the surrounding areas.

This part of the world can contain useful items, including the Iron Key. Rather than immediately leaving after completing the required objective, I recommend looking around for hidden areas, chests, and additional loot.

The Veil has plenty of useful resources outside the main quest path. Exploring properly can give you equipment and materials that make the rest of the Disease Era much smoother.

Defeat the Glade Boss

Another major boss encounter takes place around the Glade.

This boss can be particularly annoying because it creates illusions, making it appear as though multiple enemies are surrounding you. It can also use attacks that affect your vision and make the fight harder to follow.

For this encounter, ranged combat can be especially useful. Staying at a safer distance gives you more time to react while still allowing you to continue dealing damage.

Once the boss is defeated, make sure to collect everything available before leaving the area. Important loot can easily be missed if you rush away immediately after the fight.

Visit the Gem Head Area

While exploring the world, we can also find an area connected to the Gem Head people.

This location includes a gem-related system that costs around 500 Silver to use. Since the system involves spending currency for random rewards, you should think carefully before using all your Silver here.

If you are still progressing through the Disease Era and need money for equipment, enchanting, or future requirements, saving your Silver may be the better option.

Players with plenty of extra currency can experiment with the system, but I would personally prioritize progression requirements first.

Defeat the Goblin Warlock

The Goblin Warlock can also appear around the Glade and is another boss worth fighting during your journey.

Like several other bosses in The Veil, this encounter becomes easier when multiple players are around to help. Working together allows us to deal damage faster and reduces the pressure on a single player.

Remember that drops are not guaranteed. You may defeat the Goblin Warlock and receive nothing useful on your first attempt.

If you need a specific item, keep farming the boss and make sure you have enough inventory space before starting another run.

Farm Fire Essence in Scorch Basin

Later in the Disease Era, we need to travel to the Scorch Basin to obtain Fire Essence.

This can be one of the more frustrating farming steps because the item does not necessarily drop immediately. You may need to defeat multiple enemies before finally getting what you need.

If you are unlucky, keep farming and do not leave too early. Fire Essence is an important progression item, so you will eventually need to obtain it before continuing.

This is also a good time to make sure your equipment is in decent condition because the later stages of the Disease Era become much more demanding.

Obtain the Smoldering Horn

After completing the necessary objectives in the Scorch Basin, you can obtain the Smoldering Horn.

At this stage, it is important to pay attention to your inventory and avoid accidentally getting rid of important quest items.

The progression also involves other special materials, including Festered Meat, which becomes especially important near the end of the Disease Era.

Try to keep your important progression items organized so you know exactly what you have collected before moving toward the final stages.

Prepare to Summon the Final Boss

The final part of the Disease Era requires us to use Festered Meat at an altar.

Using the item triggers the final boss encounter, so I strongly recommend preparing before activating the altar.

Check your weapon, armor, healing supplies, and other resources before starting the battle. The final fight is a major step up from many of the earlier encounters, and going in unprepared can make things unnecessarily difficult.

Once the battle begins, you need to stay in the arena and fight the boss properly. This is not an encounter where simply running away will help you finish the progression.

Defeat the Final Disease Era Boss

The final boss has approximately 9,000 HP, making it significantly tougher than many of the enemies we faced earlier.

Good movement and proper healing management are extremely important during this fight. If you are playing with friends, try to coordinate your attacks instead of having everyone move around randomly.

Do not waste all your healing items too early. Watch your health carefully and wait for safer moments to attack when the boss leaves an opening.

If your first attempt fails, do not worry too much. Each fight gives you an opportunity to understand the boss better. Once you learn the dangerous attacks and improve your preparation, the encounter becomes much more manageable.

Having better equipment and teammates can also make a huge difference during the battle.

Enter the Primordial Era

After finally defeating the boss, you have completed the Disease Era.

You can now continue through the next door and enter the Primordial Era, where the next major stage of The Veil’s progression begins.

New areas, enemies, quests, and challenges are waiting ahead, so completing the Disease Era is only the beginning of your longer journey through the game.

Tips for Completing Disease Era Faster

If you want to make the progression smoother, here are a few things I recommend keeping in mind:

• Complete early mob quests while collecting Silver and equipment.

• Save enough Silver for weapon enchanting and other progression costs.

• Use ranged weapons when a boss is difficult to fight at close range.

• Explore areas instead of only following quest markers.

• Open chests whenever possible for additional equipment and materials.

• Be careful when farming at night because of Sanity loss.

• Fight bosses with other players when possible.

• Do not expect important boss drops to appear every time.

• Keep farming Scorch Basin enemies until you obtain Fire Essence.

• Save important quest items such as Festered Meat.

• Prepare healing items and equipment before summoning the final boss.

• Learn from failed boss attempts instead of rushing back into the fight unprepared.

Completing the Disease Era in The Veil involves much more than simply following a quest marker from one location to another. Throughout the journey, we need to defeat enemies, collect special items, enchant our weapons, explore different regions, and take down several bosses.

I recommend taking your time during the early stages and collecting as much useful equipment as possible. Good preparation can make a huge difference when you eventually reach the Scorch Basin and the final boss encounter.

Once you defeat the final boss and finish all the required progression, you can finally move into the Primordial Era. The challenges continue from there, but finishing the Disease Era is an important milestone and prepares you for the next major part of The Veil.
