The new Onigashima Raid is finally here in Grand Piece Online (GPO), and if you have already tried it, you probably know that this is not an easy dungeon. There are several objectives you need to complete before you can even reach the final boss, and a few of the enemies can easily catch you off guard.
In this guide, I will walk you through how to clear the Onigashima Raid from start to finish. We will go over the best way to handle the early enemies, rescue the technicians and villagers, destroy the towers, and deal with both King and Kaido.
The biggest thing I can recommend before starting is to bring plenty of Health Drinks. You are going to take a lot of damage during this raid, especially during the Kaido fight. Having enough healing can make the difference between clearing the dungeon and getting wiped near the end.
Recommended Build for the Onigashima Raid
For this run, the build used is based around Max Dark Blade, but you do not necessarily need to copy it exactly.
You can also use Pika V2 with a similar setup and still clear the dungeon. A fruit-focused Pika V2 build can work well for this raid as long as you have enough health and the damage needed to deal with the enemies quickly.
The important thing is to bring a build that you are comfortable using. You do not need the exact accessories or setup shown in the run to understand the mechanics.
Bring Plenty of Health Drinks
Before entering the dungeon, make sure you stock up on Health Drinks.
I cannot stress this enough. The raid can hit surprisingly hard, and Kaido in particular is extremely aggressive.
You will have opportunities to heal during the run, but you do not want to enter the final fight with only a couple of drinks left.
If you are running the dungeon solo, I would definitely buy as many Health Drinks as you can reasonably carry.
How to Start the Onigashima Raid
Once you enter the dungeon, take a moment to check your build and accessories before getting too far into the run.
You do not need every accessory used in the example run. Some items, such as Dahan, are being used mainly for convenience rather than because they are absolutely required.
Once you are ready, you can start clearing the first area.
Clear the Seven Pirates
The first objective is very simple.
You need to defeat the seven pirates in the starting area.
Just clear the enemies around the area until all seven have been defeated. This part is not particularly complicated, so you should be able to move through it quickly with a decent build.
Once all seven pirates are gone, you can continue deeper into the dungeon.
Destroy the Boulder
After clearing the starting enemies, you will come across a boulder blocking the way.
Destroy the boulder to open the path into the next area, which leads toward the desert section of the dungeon.
This is where you need to start paying more attention because the objectives become more important.
Rescue the Technician First
Once you reach the desert area, your first priority should be to rescue the technician.
Do not immediately start destroying every tower and cannon you see.
The technician is important because rescuing them unlocks the ability to deal with some of the dangerous structures around the area.
Once the technician is safe, you will be shown the weak points you need to attack.
Why the Technician Is Important
There is a particularly annoying structure in this area that continuously throws Beast Pirate enemies into the battlefield.
If you leave it active, you can quickly become overwhelmed by additional enemies.
That is why I recommend rescuing the technician first. Once the rescue is complete, you can destroy the enemy-spawning structure and make the rest of the area much easier.
Give the Technician Health Drinks
The technician can lose health during the rescue, so you can use Health Drinks to keep them alive.
You do not need to constantly spam drinks on them. Around one or two drinks per technician per run should generally be enough, depending on how much damage they take.
The important thing is to keep an eye on their health.
If the technician gets downed, do not immediately assume the run is over.
What Happens if the Technician Gets Downed?
If a technician dies or gets downed, the Beast Pirate grunts can try to carry them away.
This can make things much more difficult.
However, if they get downed, you can carry the technician back to safety. In some runs, they may also recover after receiving Health Drinks.
So, if something goes wrong, do not panic. Pick them up and bring them back to the safe area when possible.
Destroy the Enemy-Throwing Structure
After successfully rescuing the technician, you can focus on destroying the structure that is constantly sending Beast Pirates into the area.
This is one of the most annoying parts of the early section, so I recommend dealing with it as soon as you unlock its weak points.
Once it is destroyed, you will no longer have to worry about those additional enemies constantly being thrown into the area.
That makes escorting the remaining NPCs much easier.
Rescue the Other NPCs
After dealing with the enemy-spawning structure, you need to continue rescuing the other NPCs in the area.
You do not necessarily have to follow the exact order shown in the run, but the general strategy is to clear the enemies around each NPC and get them moving toward safety.
Open the Gate
At one point, you can open the gate and allow one of the rescued NPCs to start walking toward the safe area on their own.
They will move slowly, but this gives you time to go and rescue another NPC instead of standing around waiting for the first one to finish walking.
This is a good way to save time during the run.
Just make sure you do not completely forget about the NPC. Keep an eye on their progress while you are dealing with the next objective.
Defeat the Elite Beast Pirates
While rescuing the NPCs, you will encounter Elite Beast Pirates.
These enemies can be annoying, especially because some can spawn with different Devil Fruits.
If an enemy has a particularly troublesome Fruit, try to deal with it quickly rather than letting it stay around and interrupt your rescue.
Once the surrounding enemies are cleared, stay close to the NPC you are escorting so they continue moving properly.
Destroy the Remaining Towers
Once the required NPCs have been rescued, you will be able to destroy the remaining defensive structures.
There is an Inferno Tower that needs to be destroyed before you can continue.
You can technically destroy certain structures earlier if you want, but the more efficient approach is to rescue the necessary NPCs first so the weak points become available.
Once the final tower is destroyed, the annoying enemy reinforcements should no longer be a major problem.
Defeat the Beast Pirates Holding the Villagers
After dealing with the towers, you will eventually reach the section where Beast Pirates are holding Blossom Villagers hostage.
Clear out the enemies in this area.
Once they are defeated, you can move on to the first major boss of the raid:
King.
How to Defeat King
King is the first major boss you need to take down, and he has a mechanic you really need to watch for.
When King reaches around 50% HP, he transforms into his full form.
Immediately after transforming, he can use his ultimate, so you should not stay directly next to him when his transformation starts.
Back Away When King Transforms
This is probably the most important tip for the King fight.
When you see King start transforming at around 50% HP, back away immediately.
His ultimate can deal around 400 damage, so getting caught by it can put you in a very bad position.
I recommend creating some distance before the transformation finishes rather than trying to squeeze in one more attack.
Watch King’s Close-Range Attacks
King also has a dangerous close-range attack that can catch you if you stay too close.
If you see him preparing a particular attack while standing close to you, be ready to block or move away.
His AI can also circle around you, which can make his attacks difficult to predict.
If you are unsure what he is about to do, creating some distance is usually safer than trying to trade attacks with him.
Blocking King’s Attacks
Some of King’s attacks can be blocked.
If you are caught in a situation where you are not sure what attack is coming next, holding block can give you an opportunity to survive and wait for an opening.
Just be careful with attacks that can guard break you.
Once you learn his attack patterns, the fight becomes much more manageable.
Free the Villagers
After defeating King, you are not quite finished with the dungeon.
You need to free the Blossom Villagers.
Once they are rescued, you can move toward the final part of the raid.
And this is where things get much more difficult.
Enter the Kaido Boss Fight
After freeing the villagers, you will reach the final section.
Step onto the pad to enter the Kaido boss fight.
There is a cutscene before the battle, and then you will enter the Skull Dome to face Kaido.
This is easily the most dangerous part of the entire dungeon.
How to Defeat Kaido
Kaido is extremely aggressive, and his moveset is much larger than King’s.
He can use attacks from different forms and has a huge variety of moves, including attacks associated with his dragon, hybrid, and Thunder Bagua abilities.
Because of this, you should not expect the fight to be completely predictable.
The best strategy is to learn which attacks you can block, which ones require you to move, and when you need to create distance to heal.
Watch for Kaido’s Attacks
Kaido has several attacks you need to pay attention to.
Some attacks can be blocked, while others require you to use an evasive move or simply get away from him.
If you see an attack that looks like it is about to guard break you, do not stubbornly hold block. Move away and avoid it.
The safest approach is to play patiently rather than constantly trying to attack.
Block the Flame Breath
One attack you especially need to watch for is Flame Breath.
The initial damage may not look particularly scary, but the burn damage adds up quickly.
If you see Kaido using Flame Breath, block it rather than standing in the attack.
Taking repeated burn damage while fighting his other attacks can drain your health extremely quickly.
Be Careful With His Big Attacks
Some of Kaido’s larger attacks deal significant damage.
When you see him preparing one of these moves, backing away is usually the safest option.
Other attacks can be blocked if you are already in position, but you should not try to tank everything.
Kaido’s damage adds up very quickly.
Heal Whenever You Get an Opening
This is one of the biggest lessons from the Kaido fight.
Do not wait until you have almost no HP left before using your Health Drinks.
When Kaido gives you a brief opening and you can safely create some distance, heal immediately.
You may need to use several drinks during the fight, especially if you are running the dungeon solo.
If you have an opportunity to get away from Kaido, take it.
There is no reason to risk the entire run just because you wanted to land one extra attack.
Kaido Transforms at 50% HP
Just like King, Kaido has a major transformation mechanic.
When Kaido reaches around 50% HP, he transforms into his full form.
His full form also has damage reduction, meaning he will take longer to defeat after transforming.
The exact damage reduction can change, but the important part is that you should expect the second half of the fight to take longer.
Prepare Before Kaido Reaches 50%
When Kaido gets close to 50% HP, I recommend preparing yourself for the transformation.
Make sure you have enough health and enough room to move.
If you are low on HP, use a Health Drink before he reaches the transformation point rather than waiting until after he transforms.
You do not want to be caught at low health when the most dangerous phase of the fight begins.
Watch Out for Kaido’s Red Ground Attacks
During Kaido’s full-form phase, pay attention to the red indicators on the ground.
These can signal dangerous attacks that you need to avoid.
If you see the red area appearing underneath or around you, move away as quickly as possible.
Getting caught in multiple attacks at once can destroy your health surprisingly fast.
Kaido’s Head Is the Main Target
When attacking Kaido, try to aim for his head.
This is where his main hitbox is, so targeting his head can make your attacks more consistent.
You will still need to focus on his attack animations and positioning, but keeping your attacks around his head can make the fight easier.
Kaido’s Ultimate at Around 65% HP
One important mechanic to remember is Kaido’s ultimate.
The run demonstrates Kaido using his ultimate at around 65% HP.
When you see this happening, make sure you have enough space and follow the appropriate movement or defensive timing.
Do not assume you can simply stand underneath him and continue attacking.
The safest approach is to recognize the animation and react immediately.
Do Not Get Trapped Near the Ceiling
One mistake that can happen during Kaido’s ultimate is getting too close to the ceiling.
You may think you have enough vertical space to avoid the attack, but positioning can still cause you to get hit.
So, when reacting to the ultimate, pay attention to where you are moving.
Give yourself enough room instead of blindly moving upward.
Use Block and Evasive Moves Correctly
Kaido’s moveset can feel overwhelming at first, but you do not need to dodge everything.
Some attacks are better handled by blocking, while others should be avoided with an evasive move.
If an attack is going to guard break you, do not sit there holding block. Move away.
If an attack can safely be blocked, blocking is often better than wasting your evasive option.
The more you fight Kaido, the easier it becomes to recognize which response you need.
Finish Kaido and Clear the Raid
Once you have survived Kaido’s attacks and brought his HP down, keep playing patiently.
Do not become too aggressive just because he is almost dead.
A last-second mistake can ruin the entire run, especially if you have already spent most of your Health Drinks.
Wait for safe openings, block the attacks you can block, avoid the dangerous moves, and keep dealing damage whenever you have an opportunity.
Once Kaido is defeated, you have successfully cleared the Onigashima Raid.

The Onigashima Raid in GPO is definitely one of the harder dungeons, but once you understand the objectives, it becomes much easier to manage.
The biggest thing I would recommend is not rushing through the early sections. Rescue the technician first, keep the NPCs alive, and destroy the enemy-spawning structures as soon as you unlock their weak points. Doing this makes the escort sections much less chaotic.
King is fairly manageable as long as you remember to back away when he transforms at around 50% HP. Kaido is where the real challenge starts. His huge moveset, transformation, damage reduction, and aggressive AI mean you need to be much more patient.
And seriously, bring plenty of Health Drinks. If you are running this dungeon solo, you are going to need them. Heal whenever you get a safe opening instead of waiting until you are almost dead.
Once you learn Kaido’s attacks and get comfortable with the timing, the raid becomes much more consistent. It may take a few attempts at first, but after you understand the mechanics, you should be able to clear Onigashima much more reliably.
