All Star Tower Defense Kovegu IV Guide – Ability, Stats

If you’ve been waiting for SSJ4 Gogeta to show up in All Star Tower Defense, Kovegu IV definitely looks like the kind of unit that should be completely broken at first glance.

He has a blessing, a special ability, a huge damage ceiling, an extremely powerful second ability, and some ridiculous Infinite Mode numbers. On paper, this sounds like an easy must-have.

But there’s a catch.

After looking at how Kovegu IV actually performs in Raid Mode compared with Infinite Mode, the picture becomes a lot more complicated. He’s incredibly strong in the right mode, but his Raid Mode upgrade has some pretty obvious problems that hold him back.

So, if you’re deciding whether it’s worth spending your resources to build SSJ4 Gogeta, here’s everything you need to know.

Kovegu IV Stats and Requirements

Kovegu IV is based on Gogeta SSJ4 from Dragon Ball GT and comes with some impressive starting stats.

He’s a Level 175 Fire enchant unit with a blessing and special ability.

At Level 1, his listed stats are:

  • 10.5K damage
  • 3-second attack speed
  • 60 range
  • 100 placement cost
  • Air unit
  • Fire enchant
  • Blessing
  • Special ability

He also belongs to six categories:

  • Pure-Hearted
  • Martial Artist
  • Godlike Powers
  • Protectors of the Universe
  • Prodigy
  • Fusion

His leader skill gives units in the Protectors of the Universe category +25% attack.

That is already a pretty nice combination, especially if your team is built around that category.

Kovegu IV Placement Limit

This is where things get a little disappointing.

Despite the incredibly cheap 100 placement cost, Kovegu IV is a single-placement unit.

And honestly, this is probably the biggest issue with the character.

A unit with this kind of damage potential being limited to one placement means you’re only getting that massive damage output from one character.

If Kovegu IV had an eight-unit placement limit, the situation would be completely different. He could potentially become one of the most ridiculous damage dealers in the game.

Instead, you’re forced to make that single placement count.

Kovegu IV First Attack

When you first place Kovegu IV, he starts with an AoE Circle attack.

His displayed stats are around:

  • 13.1K damage
  • 3-second attack speed
  • 60 range

The first animation is pretty simple. Gogeta throws energy attacks toward the enemy, and while it works fine, it isn’t anything particularly crazy.

The good thing is that the unit is extremely cheap to place.

For only 100 placement cost, getting this kind of starting damage and attack speed isn’t bad at all.

Kovegu IV Ultra Red Beam Upgrade

The early upgrades are relatively inexpensive, with the first few costing around 150, 250, and then more as you continue upgrading.

Eventually, you get:

  • +9.5K damage
  • +20K damage
  • Attack speed improved to 4 seconds
  • Range increased to 70
  • Ultra Red Beam

This changes Kovegu IV’s attack into an AoE Cone.

The new attack is basically a large energy beam fired toward the enemies, and honestly, this animation is much cooler than his starting attack.

It also gives him better coverage, which is important because his initial 60 range isn’t particularly impressive.

Kovegu IV Blue Beam Ability

Further upgrades add around 60K, 110K, and 200K damage, eventually unlocking Blue Beam.

This is where Kovegu IV starts getting some of his more unusual mechanics.

The Blue Beam ability grants Taipan for 180 seconds and spawns a Kovegu clone for 90 seconds.

Each clone has 24% of Kovegu IV’s maximum Raid upgrade stats.

That sounds extremely powerful at first, but there is an important problem.

The Raid Mode version simply doesn’t have enough range to take full advantage of the damage.

Why Kovegu IV Struggles in Raid Mode

This is probably the biggest problem with Kovegu IV.

His Raid Mode upgrade ends up having poor range, sitting around 70 range for a significant part of the progression.

For a character that is supposed to be one of the big damage dealers, that’s rough.

You can have an enormous damage number, but if enemies aren’t inside your attack range, that damage doesn’t really matter.

That’s why the single-placement restriction becomes even more frustrating.

If Kovegu IV had four placements, you could at least spread him around the map and make better use of his damage.

Instead, you’re stuck with one unit that doesn’t have enough range for the Raid Mode content where you’d ideally want to use him.

Kovegu IV Raid Mode Damage

The Raid Mode upgrade eventually reaches around 51.2 million damage, with roughly 4-second attack speed and 84 range in the showcase.

On paper, 51 million damage sounds amazing.

But the problem isn’t really the damage.

It’s the combination of:

Single placement + limited range + expensive requirements.

That’s what makes Kovegu IV much less impressive in Raid Mode than the raw damage number might suggest.

Big Bang Blue Beam

Later, Kovegu IV gets Big Bang Blue Beam.

This upgrade adds around 5.6 million damage, improves his attack speed to around 10 seconds, and massively increases his range to 300.

The attack becomes an AoE Circle.

And this is where things start looking much better.

The animation is also considerably more impressive. Gogeta fires an enormous energy beam with a much more dramatic effect and sound.

So once you reach this part of the upgrade path, Kovegu IV finally starts feeling like the SSJ4 Gogeta unit you would expect.

Kovegu IV Final Damage

The final upgrade pushes his damage to around 499 million in the showcase.

That’s already a ridiculous number.

But this is where you have to remember that Kovegu IV is much more suited to Infinite Mode.

His Infinite Mode upgrade is dramatically stronger than his Raid Mode progression.

In fact, the showcase shows him reaching around 2 billion damage.

That’s the point where the unit starts making much more sense.

Kovegu IV Is Better for Infinite Mode

If you’re mainly interested in Infinite Mode, Kovegu IV becomes a much more attractive option.

His huge damage scaling and massive range make much more sense in a mode where you’re trying to survive increasingly difficult waves.

The difference between his Raid Mode and Infinite Mode performance is pretty substantial.

Raid Mode: Disappointing for a unit of this rarity and difficulty to obtain.

Infinite Mode: Extremely powerful.

So I wouldn’t judge Kovegu IV entirely by his Raid Mode performance. His kit is clearly designed with Infinite Mode in mind.

Kovegu IV Second Ability

His second ability is arguably the most impressive part of his kit.

When activated, it removes 27% of all enemies’ current health.

And the effect lasts for 5 minutes after use.

That’s an enormous amount of utility.

Instead of simply dealing a fixed amount of damage, you’re taking a percentage of the enemies’ current HP.

This becomes especially valuable against enemies with massive health pools.

Kovegu IV also provides a 50% damage increase to units in the Protectors of the Universe and Pure-Hearted categories through the ability.

So you’re getting both enemy HP reduction and a significant team damage buff.

That’s a genuinely powerful combination.

Kovegu IV Cutscene and Abilities

The abilities also come with some custom visual effects and cutscenes.

The first ability features Gogeta fighting and spawning additional units, while the health reduction ability gets its own cutscene.

The visuals are definitely one of the better parts of the character.

If you’re a Dragon Ball fan, seeing SSJ4 Gogeta throw out these massive attacks is probably going to be one of the main reasons you want the unit in the first place.

How to Get Kovegu IV

Getting Kovegu IV isn’t exactly cheap.

You’ll need SSJ4 Goku as part of the process, and the showcase mentions needing around 20 Goku pieces.

Depending on which banner you’re pulling from, you could be looking at roughly 13–15 pulls or more, along with a substantial amount of Gems.

So this isn’t a character I’d recommend chasing blindly.

Before spending a huge chunk of your resources, you should know exactly what you’re getting.

Kovegu IV is a very powerful Infinite Mode unit, but he’s not nearly as impressive in Raid Mode.

His huge damage numbers can definitely grab your attention, especially when you see him reaching around 499 million damage and eventually around 2 billion with Infinite Mode upgrades.

But the single placement and poor Raid Mode range hold him back considerably.

His second ability is a different story. Removing 27% of enemies’ current health for five minutes and providing a 50% damage boost to relevant categories is incredibly strong.

So if you’re already working toward Infinite Mode progression, Kovegu IV can absolutely be worth the investment.

If you’re mainly looking for a Raid Mode unit, though, I’d think twice before spending all those Gems and SSJ4 Goku pieces.

In short: Kovegu IV has the power of an endgame unit, but his Raid Mode limitations stop him from being the all-around monster you might expect from SSJ4 Gogeta.
